S Bob Cooper What a horror show LANGUAGE IS THE DRESS OF THOUGHT Samuel johnson jill Ryan 'E ig' X of A Gertrude Rose Close YOUV mol-'th Please Do you want to get into trouble Language is not taught for the learning of a foreign language, but to learn about other cultures. Students are able to compare their culture with that of others around the world, A language course can range from the an- cient Latin, which all other lan- guages are derived, to French, German, and Spanish. To acquire knowledge of another language of people and accept it, is truly a sign of being educated. Cer- tain days of the year are desig- nated for student participation in European ways of living. These days are known as culture days. Each person prepares a particular food from that country and ev- eryone feasts on the goodies. The main topics of conversation are European dress, food, and fashion of living, sometimes, while music from that country is being played. Each year,stu- dents and teachers embark to Europe during Easter vacation. After talking and hearing so much about other countries, a student finally can see for himself. Each day is filled with sightseeing, shopping, and dining in restau- rants. Some just view learning a foreign dialect as a required course for college, but it is really a very important part of educa- tion. Knowing different forms of languages in existence is es- sential to survival. The knowl- edge of a foreign language may one day prove to be very helpful.
