POINT PLACE HIGH SCHOOL Basketball Summary T HE BASKETBALL season opened with a call for candidates on November 15. The squad contained several veterans and a few new faces. A difficult 14 game schedule faced the former class B cham- pions who were now competing in class A. In four non-league games the team succeeded in recording but a single victory at the expense of a strong Alumni group while losing to three worthy opponents. The competition in the Maumee Valley League was the keenest in the history of the league and while our record of hve games won against five defeats, was not impressive of the type of competition encountered, so grouped the leaders as to place our team in third place. In tournament play we drew Libbey and were defeated by a single point in what was generally conceded to be the best played game of the whole affair. The team was a credit to the school and coach and deservedly earned the plaudits of the student body and community. Page Fifty-three

The tournament was played in elimina- tion style. Two leagues, representing two teams from each class, were formed. The winning team of each league played in the final game for the volleyball championship. The Sophomores retained their laurels of the previous year by defeat- ing the other Sophomore team. The winning Sophomore team consisted of: Thelma Bebb, Dorothy Seeman, Violet Suzor, Mescal Haynes, and Dorothy Rudolph. The second event of the Girls' Intramurals was a basketball tournament. This tournament was conducted quite differently from those of previous years, being played in competition style rather than that of elimination. Each class was represented by two or three teams, divided into two leagues. Points were given to each team attired in gym clothes and for the number of games won. The members of the team with the next highest number of points received certificates. Page Fifty four
