POINT PLACE HIGH SCHOOL Football Summary Whirmer V On October 24th, Whitmer visited the Point, to participate in the Point Place Home-Coming game. The Home-Coming Day proved quite successful for the Point, a large crowd, a grand day, and another league victory for the Cardinals! The final score: 30 to O. Findlay Playing against a team of what seemed to be giants in comparison to the Point, the fighting spirit of the Cardinals was undaunted as they blocked, passed and tackled to upset an over-confident Findlay team. The turning point of the game occurred as a Cardinal player intercepted a fumble and ran fifteen yards for a touch- down. During the closing minutes of the game Findlay opened a furious aerial attack, which proved fruitless, as Point Place maintained its lead of 12 to 7. Perrysburg On November 6th, Point Place journeyed to Perrysburg, to play one of their toughest rivals. The Cardinals were playing on their merits of the Findlay game and consequently were out-played by the fighting Perrysburg eleven. At the close of the first half, with Perrysburg leading 6 to O, Point Place came back into the game with determination to win. With good play- ing and teamwork the Cardinals were able to defeat these fighters with a score of 19 to 6. Rossford The two mightiest teams of the Maumee Valley League clashed on Friday, November 13th, which proved to be the unlucky day for Rossford, as they met their Waterloo before the undaunted, fighting Point Place team. Completely overwhelmed, the Bulldogs were unable to score a single touchdown. This was the first league defeat for Rossford in three years, and gave the plucky Cardinals their first league championship. Point Place out-played Rossford to the tune of 20 to O.
