THE SCARLET AND BLACK Football Summary 5 OINT Place High School's football team ended its season in great style by winning the cham- ' pionship of the Maumee Valley League for the first time. The Cardinals defeated their foremost rival, Rossford, holding them scoreless throughout the game. Only one game was lost during the season, this to De- Vilbiss. It was, however, not a league game. DeVilbiss Point Place played its opening game on the night of September 18, 1956, at Pazi Field, DeVilbiss High School. Due to the inexperience of the team, the Car- dinals were defeated by a score of 66 to 0. Oak Harbor On September 25, 1936, Point Place traveled to Oak Harbor to meet a small but scrappy team. Oak Harbor scored the first touchdown but from then on it was all Point Place. The final score was 20 to 6-of course, in our favor. The team played a much better game here than at DeVilbiss. Sylvania Point Place played its first league game at Sylvania, October 9th. The game was played on a wet, slippery field which was to the advantage of the Cardinals be- cause of their superior weight. The Point's good block- ing proved the winning factor, the game endng 40 to0 in their favor. The reserves fold faithfulsj played most of the second half. Maumee Point Place played its first home game on October 16th with Maumee. The Cardinal's passing attack func- tioned smoothly and enabled them to win the game with comparative ease. The reserves were in action dur- ing this game also. The final score 35 to 0. Page Forty-eight
