POINT PLACE HIGH SCHOOL The Junior Prom, in the form of a Washington Day Ball, was one of our most successful events both socially and financially. As hosts and hostesses to the graduating class at the annual banquet, we spent a very pleasant and long-remembered evening. Evelyn Allen proved to be :1 charming Mistress of Ceremonies. We were very proud of the decorations, the favors and place cards of Dutch shoes and windmills were well in keeping with the Senior Class colors and flower. With this capable crew we soon found ourselves on the swift waters of OUR Senior year. Soon after our last lap was under way, we eagerly elected William Beach to steer us safely into port to make our first important landing. Richard Booth, Dorothy DeHaven, and Jennie Faunce served as our other commanding officers. That fall was devoted to sports and studies. So it was early in February, mid hearts and cupids, a Valentine Dance was sponsored by the Senior Class. Co-chairmen Harold Maier and Beryl Johnstone were especially delighted with the results of their diligent preparations. In the spring of that year the annual card party was given and the success of the previous year was more than repeated. Our last few weeks were busily spent in presenting the play Young Smitty, including Dan Passino, Mildred Jacobs , Phyllis Johnstone, Richard Booth, and an excellent supporting cast, and attending, as guests, the Junior-Senior Banquet as a reward for our earnest efforts. It was with regret that we danced to the last lingering strains of the Senior Prom. Thus we have reached our port-Commencement-and the end of our first important journey. Along the way we may have been showered with raindrops, brightened by sunshine, and blown by strong winds, yet we have held steadfast to our course and we feel that our journey has been worth- while and successful. Our sincere hope is that each and every one of us will, in later life, be able to sail his or her own ship always into some safe harbor while on the seas of life. Pagc Nineteen
