Point Loma’s 78-79 newspaper staff was composed of several experienced returnees, as well as many new journalists, thus creating an innovative, yet organized periodical. New features included ‘‘On The Point’’ and “Your Sun Signs.’’ The busy year was filled with ever-present deadlines, but the artists, photographers, reporters and editors enjoyed their collaborated efforts. One of the various activities in which POINTER participated in was a tour of the San Diego Evening Tribune building, where the group photo was taken. 1. Margaret Arthur contemplates a-story. | 2. EL PORTAL COOLS OFF AFTER A LONG SWEAT Layouts, photography, copy, developing prints, and paste-ups are all a part of producing a yearbook. This year the El Portal staff spent many dedicated hours of sometimes tedious work in order to meet our printer’s deadlines. New approaches and creative ideas were attempted by the staff in hopes of a well received book. Most of the members were new to the class this year but under the guidance of the advisor, Mr. Wallace, and editor, Kathie Landis, the staff | produced an excellent book. It was the staff’s hope that this year’s El Portal would capture the unforgettable thoughts and feelings of your high school years and preserve these life-long memories for many years to come. | 1. Editor-in-Chief, Kathie Landis and Photographic Editor, Steve Matchinske. 2. Janice Nerger, Debbie Davis and Julie Albares work together on a layout. | 28 Organizations
