New dress uniforms were one of fhe high- lighfs of Poinf Loma's Reserve Officers Training Corps fhis year. Under fhe direc- fion of SFC William Gallien and SFC George Holland, fhe ROTC cadeis learned much abouf discipline, milifary subiecfs and weapons, and leadership. The ROTC pro- vides cadefs inferesfecl in milifary careers wifh an excellenf background and gives all cadefs experience in leadership problems. This year's acfivifies included a Cadef Club Ball held March 6, and a Field Day, an infer-cify compefifion. Field frips were Taken fo Camp Ellioi where cadefs were given The opporfuniiy fo fire army weap- ons, and fo fhe Naval Amphibious Base af Coronado. Oufside acfivifies included fhe CIF Rifle Team which had an excellenf season. ln fhe line of dufy fhe cadefs pro- vided many services, including fhe morning flag-raising ceremony and guards af games and dances. A new addifion fo fhe fhird baffalion fhis year was fhe enrollmenf of girl cadefs. This is fhe firsf fime girls have ever joined ROTC in fhe 46 years of fhe corps. Cadefs chose Cafhy Kilgore for fheir Queen and Judy Laddon and Maureen Diclcerson as Affendanfs. They reigned af fhe Cadef Club Ball along wifh fhe queens from fhe ofher schools.
