Headed by Gary Brotherton as Com- missioner of General Affairs, the stu- dent council of Pain-t Loma strived for a common goal . . . that of strong self- government. The school functions ran smoothly and efficiently showing that we had elected top-notch leaders. Working always for our interests, they planned and executed Student Gov- ernment Week. Each commissioner visited several history classes inform- ing the students of the organization, purpose, and accomplishments of the first semester student government. As representatives of Point Loma, these leaders also attended the San Diego Associated Student Council Confer- ence in November. Under the excellent leadership of Otis Gillespie, Com- missioner of General Affairs, the Spring Commissioners carried out his platform, that of more active in- terest in school government. The actual realization of more individ- ual representation was considered the most important accomplishment of the last semester. The student body helped revise, draft and vote on a new constitution. As spokes- men of Point Loma, these leaders worked for a marquee to announce school events. lt was set up in Feb- ruary and became an informative and attractive bulletin board for Point Loma social activities.
