L xu . -- x '1-' fi 1 I 1 1 1 E J 1 11 1, ,- 1 J Q9 Matt nodon our a.s.b. government . . . as stated in our constitution- the purpose ot student govern- ment shall be to encourage a high standard ot scholarship, to promote order and discipline, to foster cooperation between the taculty and students, to initiate and supervise all student activities, and to inspire loyalty to our school. . . . our student government the tirst semester was headed by com- missioner ot general affairs, norton hall. other commissioners were: tinance, john jaureguig boys' tederation, tom 'fetterg elections and eli- gibility, lca mc claren: interscholastic activities, diclx blairg girls' ac- tivities, jacrie lceller: girls' athletics, pat curtisg and publications, june reeves. mitzi schmidt served as clerlc. the a.s.b. blue and silver ball was held in the house ot hospitality in balboa parlc. joan nye and her social committee worked hard to malce this dance one that will be long remembered by point loma lads and lassies. june reeves dick blair pat curtis kay mc claren . . . our spring semester commissioners were under the leadership ot diclt blair, commissioner ot general attairs. assisting him in our many activities were: don foster, finance: lray mc claren, girls' activities: dick porter, interscholastic activities: sharon jaclrson, elections and eligibility: genie riddle, publications: and mery noel, girls' athletics. having a very tull calendar tor the closing semester, we tound it necessary to have two a.s.b. clerics. cathy wilson served as clerlc on the commission, and marydee clark served as business clerlc. the a.s.b. spring ball was headed by helen robinson and, due to a new school regulation, it was held in the girls' gym. to help improve school spirit, the commission recommended that every thursday be pastel day. the campus was brightened with boys wearing white shirts and girls in pastel dresses. at the close ot the year, the incoming otticers were honored at an inaugural colceetail party. all student leaders and com- mittee heads were present lor the occasion. this wound up a very busy and exciting year. dick blair genie riddle sharon iaclcson mery noel sebastian silvera L 0 -H in O I-0- C 0 'U .nz 0 C 0 n. I uvf , tall officers jaclrie lreller, joan nye, lee ann woodland, janet jefferson .--in spring officers lray mc claren, susie rayburn jo ann diclcinson, babe berlrheimer . . . second semester, the girls' league purchased a pointer pencil machine, a handy thing for forgetful students. the annual silent day, which proved that girls can be quiet, was topped off with that favor- ite dance, reunion romp. the next event on our calendar was the fashion show for the girls at dana junior high and, finally, the senior mothers' tea and fashion show. .. .those guiding the league the second semester were: commissioner of girls' activities, lcay mc claren: vice president, susie rayburn: secre- tary, jo ann diclcinson: and treasurer, babe berlrheimer. X our boys' federation fall olficers nick fintzelberg, bill edmondson, ronnfe turnbow, tom fetter . . . the boys' federation, beginning with their sale of point loma lapel buttons in september, embarked on a most active year. they contributed many activities tor the enjoyment of all lomans, the first being a dressy-sport dance. they later sponsored two assemblies, one was a movie for the whole student body and the other was a tumbling exhibition for the boys only. . . , fall semester officers included tom letter, president: bill edmondson, vice-president: ronald turnbow, treasurer: and niclt fintzelberg, secretary. . . . the spring semester officers, dick porter, president: ronnie brandon, vice-president: h. c. yoakum, secretaryq and don adams, treasurer, instigated a senior vocational guid- ance program. this program was undertaken in conjunction with the girls' league and was for the purpose of helping the seniors to decide on their vocations through first- hand knowledge in the particular field they were interested in. the spring semester also found the boysl federation presenting two assemblies. spring officers don adams, h. c. yoalcum, ronnie brandon, dick porter boys' federation asgernbly ' Aa. tall semester representatives our homeroom representatives . . .these are our home room representatives-the students elected in their second period classes to attend all a.s.b. commission meetings and to keep their classes informed on aff asp. activities. spring semester representatives tall ctlucer bruce russell dlane justice marydee clark genre nddle ourselves sprung officers eleanor grom gwen evans bar bara lrelly jean hunt tom fetter as we reached the goal . . . seniors at last! after three years of hard worlc, mingled with merriment and happy memories, the class of '52 looks back at their senior year with a touch of pride. a successful paper drive pushed the class to a running start. other activities, such as the bool: cover sale, the senior play, ditch day, and, finally, the long-awaited senior prom at the la jolla beach and tennis club, highlighted the eventful big year. i '-r diane aclrerman asf, Una'-'tivs iw C' a'nimc so' ful. dn, .11 nur' don adams v'3':ii'y i'Tff1!
