Charles Wm. Barber Principal's Message One of the most important qualities that a person should develop is self-reliance. Employers of large numbers of people find that one of the most scarce of our natural resources is leadership. As people become more and more interested in security, it becomes very difficult to find people who will accept responsibility. The old pioneer virtue of self-reliance is becoming harder to find in our young people every year. Many opportunities are available in every field for people willing to accept the responsibilities and risks of leadership. If you are willing to obtain the training and ed- ucation, and then strive to reach a position of responsibility, you, through your display of self-reliance, will become a part of one of our most im- portant natural resources. You will become a responsible leader in some field of endeavor. 3

Dedication We honor a man who has unselfishly devoted his time and effort both as a teacher and as a friend to the students of Point Arena Union High School. He has stimulated us to independent thinking as well as to individual achieve- ment. It is with gratitude that we dedicate this annual to you, Mr. Ashiku. 2
