The Pocatello High School Senate is the s m a l l e s t governing body of the legislative branch and is patterned closely after the United States Senate. The membership consists of the vice-president of the student body, three members from each class, the president of Girls' Council and the president of Boys' Council, the secretary of the student body, and o 'faculty advisor. The vice-president of the student body serves as president of the senate. Duties of the senate include originating and providing plans for the raising of money for student body use, approving appointments by the student body president to the student ac- tivity positions, introducing bills to safeguard the property of the school and of the members of the student body, considering all bills pro- posed in the House of Representatives, and approving awards which are given to deserving students at the annual awards assembly. Mike Sawaya,Chief Justice 'F fl i R 2, S3 Qi E The School Court is the judicial branch of the school government. lts membership con- sists of a chief justice, five senior justices, four junior justices, and a clerk. The justices are all appointed by a faculty recommendation with the exception of the chief justice who is elected by the student body. The main func- tions of the court are deciding constitution- ality of laws and acts of student government, revising parts of the school constitution, and prosecuting violators of school law.
