Administrators ROBERT K. MARCHEL, Superintendent Mr. Marchel as superintendent of schools has defined the order of responsibility in Class A School District No. 25 as follows: The people of the community elect a board of trustees that acts as their voice. The board selects the superintendent, who with the board sets the policies of the district and puts them in effect. Responsible to the superintendent are the director of elementary education, the director of secondary education, the principals, and the business manager. Three hundred fifty-one teachers and counselors work with seventeen principals in effectively and efficiently carry- ing out the policies of the district in their work with the nearly ten thousand school children in the district. Responsible to the bus- iness manager are the men who operate and repair the many school buses, the men and women who maintain and operate the food services, and the men who are responsible for the maintenance and operation of the physical plant. Mr. Marchel's careful planning and vigilance has given Pocatello an effective and smooth operating system. Mr. Marchel has his B. A. and M. A. degrees from the University of Utah. School board members are, left to right-Ernest G. Hansen, Business Manager and Treasurer, Ezra M. Hawkes, Chairman of the Board, Mrs. Doris Lyman, Clerk of the Board, James A. Leese, Trustee, Mrs. Vero McCarty, Trustee, J. Richard Sorensen, Trustee.

Their duties are varied, but each is very nec- essary. Mrs. Thirkill and Mr. Ellis are the supervisors at elementary and secondary ed- ucation respectively, Mr, Teuscher is the prin- cipal ot our high school, Mr. Six is in charge ot school finances, Mr. Gooch guides the stu- dents in their choice ot schools for further education and in their choice of vocations, and the counselors, Miss Bell and Mr. Young, help the maidens and braves with their problems and activities.
