Pocatello High School, this year, has won Big Six Championship titles in both football and basketball, has captured the Fifth District basketball championship, and has marched on to the Idaho State Basketball Cham- pionship undefeated throughout the season. None of these things could have come about without the aid of one man, a champion in his own right-our head coach, Johnny Evans, who, with the help of his capable assistants, Wally Kelly and Byron Toone, spurred Poky High's able athletes on to this undefeated season and inspired them to play their best under all conditions. Under his watchful eye our boys made athletic history and blossomed into true champions. To Johnny Evans, we of the Pocatellian staff and student body of Pocatello High School dedicate our book the l957 Pocatellian. 5 Ijagfe of Uonfanfa OPENING ..A,.. ... FOREWORD A. ,.. Many memories crowd our minds as we reflect. Way back when tour freshman yearl, we lived through the painting ' and glory of our first Red and Blue Day. Our class party was he d in the Girls' Gym a-nd many of us attended. We worked hard and played hard that first year. When we were sophomores, Red and Blue Day was no more, IH its place came Homecoming and our illustrious class float which dldn't even win a prize: Our ' Dogpatch party was quite the sight, with many odd-looking creatures, including schmoos, and lots of Kickapoo Joy Juice mixed by our hicks from the sticks. We gained a little confidence in ourselves, but we still held back our talents, ambitions, and especially, our homework. During our junior year we had a good float, complete with an Indian, and it won second prize. The theme this year was Poky Pow Wow. Our as- sembly was a Minstrel Show and it was received enthusiastically. To top aff the year, we staged the best dance of all, the Junior Prom, with the unforgettable theme, Carousel Our senior year was eagerly anticipated as we ordered our class rings and partied at the Cove. Last fall we come back to the good old theme of Red JEAN ETTE KINGHORN Secretary and Blue Day, and capped it by winning first prize with our spec- tacular 40-foot Senior Dream. ' Long after this year we will re- member and cherish the efforts of our football and basketball teams, both undefeated and both Big Six champions. Our grand- children will hear about this feat for long years to come. Night of January l6th, was the title of the suspense-packed senior play, which everyone, including the cast, enfoyed. Of course, the Senior Ball, biggest and best of oll, was hed in a facsimile of a tea- house w ich may be the senior trademark for all time. Everyone had fun on Sneak Day, but many eyes were tearful as the last march down the aisle concluded our high school days. Class officers during our years at Poky High were: PRES. V.-PRES. We had chosen a theme to follow the whole school year. lt wasn't the first time our class hadldone something different. From the first day we were struggling, wide-eyed, eagxer freshmen entered this great produc- tion called Pocatello Hig School, our destination seemed to be to make the most of the exciting experiences such a production offers. We started off with an amazing revolution-no talent show. Instead we had a bang-up satire of Jiberace in an asylum. By our sophomore year, we had a real role in this fascinating show. Our precedent was the sophomore assembly, which, after being wide- ly publicized and discussed, never quite made the stage. And such a plot! We started our junior year with the confidence that comes with being upperclassmen and having to meet the competition of the hard-working junior class of 1957. Our first move was to elect our officers. The class then selected a theme Broadway. Act l of ' nior roduction was Red and Blue Day. Our float was from a our ju p leading Broadway play, The Solid Gold Cadillac and featured TAMARA W l LCOX Secretary our party I parts in we sal SOHSS Willecke, our junior princess, ri on the Our happiness soared when school realized we had a g act. And so it was a well-known suc as the h ood even the Prom, lights dance floor. This was a success. Thus we look eagperness of ocatello to our last year with the that grand finale march forever PEGGY GAMBLES Treasurer Adams Loran Ames s fiagfims i ytwiif w fgyii - e A :-f f s ., A , L Q' . f Kiifii K , Qfnzxiiieg 5 , fig,52,U:giiEiSi K ' f lwlill tm i wiiiifi ir iz? flfiiziiiilg lf, fi yiiiiiigz W M Q, I I E3 'leigh 2 Mir W, 53,1141 sisimiliigg ll' .S 4 sis ,ELK ,I 1 X: 5 1 L W - f i za ,M 5 i i ' 1 W 3, x 5 Killah X Q ,gigs w Ng RF' Margaret Adams Wayne Aloertson Floyd Anderson Harold Anderson Steve Anderson Dola Andulton Ken Bailey iijf mi Imam I gsEg55,Q,5i fi iii Q 551 qi We T Qi ,ii as 4, I if all Gail Baldwin wr Judy Allbrighf Jennie Anderson Bob Arbon Anita Bain B N A, . , is . 32353 2,2,'!.ff1f M, fliirfff -g i . om ifzigigi fi Milfs is glisyfilgifuifjiglii , B , gw gf w f A , sgg iifizigg gigisiigig ilzwiw . .'
