FOREWORD Closing this, our Senior year at beloved Pocahontas High School, we, the members of the class of ‘51, send this year book to the press with pride and love for it and those who will own its copies. We believe this book to be a symbol of our endeavorment and devotion that we, the class of ‘51, will leave behind us to live only in our memories. With the growing pain of sadness in thought of the graduation soon to come upon us, we sincerely hope that God will be with us and guide us as we leave these memorable walls to go out into the world of trials and tribulations to build our lives, our homes, and our eternity. With our coming departure from these beloved halls, we, the Senior Class of ‘51, dedicate this year book to both Mr. Carter and to the boys and girls who have left P. H. S. to serve in the United States Armed Forces. As a token of our deep appreciation for his undying efforts to better our school in every way, for his production of a champion girls’ basketball team; and for his help in making our annual possible; we affectionately dedicate the 1951 Tomahawk to Mr. R. T. Carter, Principal. Also, we, the Senior Class of ‘51, dedicate this, the 1951 Toma- hawk to the many soldiers in the Armed Forces who are paying the supreme sacrifice of giving their lives on the Korean battlefield that we, plus the millions of others like us, may enjoy our freedoms in these United States of America.
