The two angels are supposed to pick up two elderly souls Augusta Applegate, a wealthy and sarcastic spinster, and Harman Howell, a kindly, retired sailor. Herman is ready to 59: but Augusta hs accumulated so much wealth, and she dossn't want to part with it. Orpha Teel and Millie Bromeley are two nieces of Augusta who try to persuade her to give them her money. Orpha is a widow and is trying to get a rich husband for her daughter, Ruthie. Millie has an inventor-husband, Baxter, who has in- vented a thimble that threads needles and who needemoney to invest. This year there are 28 members enrolled in Vocational Agriculture, 32 in F. F. A. The productive projects in our supervised farming program include: hu Purebred Litter! Zh Market Litteri, 20 Beef Calves, 9 Dairy Cows, h Dairy Heifers, 10 Sheep, 10 Acres corn and 300 Capons. The lm- provement projects are: fence repairing, lawn seeding, til- iling, home beauification, building repairs, raknt contnns, rock blasting, grove improvements and fertilizing fields. We have 197 supplementary practices. Some of the activities we participated in during the past year were: dairy judging work out at the county farm Rodell J., Allan F., Larry B., Cortlyn A. made up the jud- ging team at Spencer Fair. At the Calhoun and Pocahontas County Fairs our chapter received 61 blue ribbons, M? red ribbons, 18 white ribbons and 15 purple ribbons. At the Spencer Fair Allan F., Larry B.,and Cortlyn A. won S pur- ple, 7 blue, 6 red, 2 white, 3 pinks, l green and l yellow. We had a good representation from our chapter at the state convention at Sioux City and the officers, Allan Frevert, Larry Bloomquist, Cortlyn Almouist. Rodell John- son and Leland Samuelson attended the National Convention at Kansas City for 3 days. We performed be- tween the half of our first home football game which was on September lh. The annual Football Jamboree was held Sept.l7 with seven bands participating. The bands marched from the courthouse to the football field. Each played d1et'school song,when they were introduced. The numbers the seven bands played were: nThe Iowa Band Law,n nImperial,n and the nStar Spangled Banner.n we held our annual homecoming September 28. The numbers we played during half time were: nln My Merry Oldsmobi1e,n nSmiles,n 'The School Song,u and nMonterey.n At the Manson game on October 12, we, led by Karen Anderson, did our contest routines. On October 13 at oneo'clock the band left the school house by bus for Sac City, and performed our marching routines shortly after we arrived. The band received a III rating. On October 22 our marching band together with bands from Albert City and Rolfe marched from the courthouseto the speakers stand for the dedication of Highway 3. The last performance of the marching band was at the Lake City football game on October 31, This was the last time that six seniors marched.
