IGBA The Pocahontas High School Band began their musical career of 49 and 50 by reporting for practice early in August and then parti the home football games they helped represent the American Legion Post of Pocahontas at the Annual State American Legion Convention at Denison Iowa on October 5 Among those participating in the con testheld thatday were Carroll Denison Scranton Luverne Manning and Pocahontas Although the competition was severe Pocahontas managed to capture 3rd place As a climax and the end to long hours of drilling in all kinds of weather, was the State Marching Band Con test held at the Memorial Park at Storm Lake on the 15th of October, with Myron E Russell Erwin Hertz and Paul Niessin as Judges For getting the upset of the previous year they went into the battle with a firm determination to again secure a I rating which they did under the able direction of Charles Mayo 2.0 , , . . . . cipating atthe 4-H Fair.
