V f, Cross Country The record books were re-written during the I970- 1971 season. The sophomore, junior, and senior course records all went under to a surge of new talent. The only problem was that not everyone decided to master the Marianne Hill course on the same day, but that hap- pens in any sport. Viewed all in all. it. may well have been the most promising season yet. X: FIRST ROW: J. Romano, D. Johnson. C. Bell, S. Kipe, J. Sweeney, V. Stahilito, M. Trotter. SECOND ROW: D. Fankel, R. Hockey The girls, Varsity Hockey team finished with another winning season this year, under the leadership of Miss West. Though they suffered their first loss in four years, the girls compiled a record of 5-2-2, scoring a total of 14 goals to the opponents 10. They had a good team this year, one which had a great num- ber of experienced players, and was always striving for a victory. Each girl was outstand- ing in her own way, and this years seniors will be surely missed. The girls, Junior Varsity Hockey team, under the capable coaching of Mrs. Manning, compiled a 4-3-2 record. These girls did a fine job this year, and the coaches are looking forward to both a fine Varsity and Junior Varsity team next year. x. FIRST ROW: K. Morris, E. Bartlet, W. Brown, J. Sasse, S. Soccer llBefore saying anything about the soccer team here as compared to the soccer teams in Brazil, I want to ask all of you a question: can you imagine a group of skinny tnot like mel Brazilians playing football? Well, I think it would be possible though I think the death ratio in Brazil would increase with such a game. But what would the chances of our team be? Another question: what would the chances of an American soccer team be in a game with the Brazilians? None! However, at P-W we have several good soccer players tthey must have a Brazilian backgroundl. For example, I can cite Nelson Dudde, Dave Mill- er, Jeff Aiken, Donny Williams, and othersf, In- deed, with these star players, the Colonial soccer team, though it didnlt win the league crown this year, did compile a Suburban I league record of 4- 2-2.
