- .. t v 0 .. .IAYVEE SCORES OPPONENTS WE Springford o Upper Darby o Springfield 26 Upper Merion I3 Harriton 30 Ridley Twp. 33 Marple-Newtown 7 THEY 6 19 7 I4 0 o 20 5066655 I I ! This and the best seasonal record in football came to Plymouth-Whitemarsh in 1959. The fighting Colonials lived up to the pre-season predictions and became one of the feared teams in Suburban II competition. Success and victory, however, didn't come easily. Mr. Landis, Mr. Letrinko, and Mr. Stofko did a fine job in whipping the boys into shape, but it was the players themselves who made the campaign a victorious one. The Colonials opened the season with a comeback victory over Springford. It was evident from this point on that Plymouth-Whitemarsh was a team to be reck- oned with. The following week the Colonials crushed lfpper Darby by a lopsided score. The team's streak was interrupted by a tie with Springfield but the fol- lowing three weeks brought victories over Upper Mer- ion, Penncrest and Harriton. The Colonials encoun- tered their first defeat at the hands of Ridley Twp. the eventual league winner. After a loss to Marple- Newtown, the Colonials finished the season with a thrilling win over Norristown. At the end of the sea- son Joe Laputka was placed on the Big 33 and re- ceived all the honors so aptly deserved. A L R Quarterback Ed Natalini skirts the end for a first 63 down.
