'forceful ond sincere educator, a teacher who made it a point to know all his students on a personal basis, his enthusiasm made the subject matter alive and was contagious, he was concerned with people a favorite expression of his was, history is not dead, it is alive.” dr hogan fulfilled this concept with his colorful and animated teaching in all his classes. — history was alive! the class of 1980 thank dr. hogan for the many contributions he has made for us and for Plymouth state college, it has been truly an honor to have among us a teacher who has given so much of himself. ‘the college has become more diversified, students at Plymouth state used to be more directed towards career in education when i came to Plymouth in 1968 there were only four faculty in the ort department, and our facilities were in rounds hall, it seemed we were always fitting into other peoples spaces, at the time, there were no four-year programs for art students, the biggest change has been the growth, the art faculty is now much larger, there are more students in art. and there are two different four-year programs with a third on the way. 'the students have always had vitality, there is a core of interested students, full of creative energy, we have a very fine art department and the students can generally find something here. ‘i really feel that Plymouth has a lot of possibilities for students to take hold and get a good education. ... it was a difficult decision for me to make — whther or not to retire, but i intend to paint more and take a active part in the community, i would also like to to some traveling and visit some of my family.' i don't feel i'm an accomplished artist yet. and i'd like to work on that. mary taylor professor of art 14 who’s who steve bean janice burke michael bulter Catherine chaput russell cutting michael dalton tammie daniels douglas deville sheila devine marcia fanaras genefle grant william green, jr. donna hamlin keith havens jack hough kathleen ireland felice jannelle richard john joseph macintyre keven marks Charles mattia kathleen o'connor nancy ottolini Catherine reynolds elizobeth riding jeri robertson Stephen st. lawrence Stephen sedensky peter simonini james speigel jeffrey vaughn dennis vienneau joann Wallace cynthia waiter laurie wifliams john zacker is t The ocean brought me peace the wind gave me energy the sun warmed my spirit the flowers showed me life but you made me feel love............. PSC gave so much to me. i wish there was something i could do so she would remember i was there, maybe that is what i'm trying to do through writing this, i am a better person because of her. my life is richer with knowledge, friendships and cherished memories, i really hate to leave, but that is what a college is for — to prepare you for leaving and going out to find your place in the world, i'll be filled with mixed emotions as i leave, sad about leaving but also glod about going to places i don't know yet. i'll try to return for future homecomings, but it's better just remembering times like when we were known as the mar-ylyon front five ..... karen mitchell 84 winter i walk in silent solitude, shapes about me white, vision of crystal castles, around me day and night. a winter world for romance, of games beneth the snow, to give our childish pleasures a little more time to grow. a sleigh ride withing a world sparkling fresh and new. like a summer meadow amidst a morning dew. to touch a single snowflake would have it vanish from view, never to be seen again t snowflakes are born anew. winter snowfalls protect us. from summer heat and rain, if only nature would allow it to always remain the same. danette f. kolb 86 spring break ’8 mountain rivers run deep in spring. the deepness is there for anyone taking time to watch it. he would race with the rapids. he would linger with the breakwaters; swirl after the plunges, and he would be deep. in summer, mountain streams will drain every crevice to stay alive and flow to the sea. to the person sharing this struggle would come a sense of wonder, determination and anxiety. fall finds the mountain stream weak but receiving life from rain or early snow. now it wi laze along in a peaceful daze: almost in wait for winter's refreshing slumber. the man watching the water's relaxation must, in part. feel that feeling too yes. the stream must flow to the plains and the sea and the fish pays Ns fare with death but it must be. Everything of nature's nature and human nature is in accord. the beauty of creation lasts forever, g such awareness often escapes man and his mechanical lever. 91 92 foil struck in. this morning, in full bass chords of color — smeared his paint roller over the hardwoods and down to the fields, slapped pumpkins with pigments unparalleled by mortals; sent sparks flying in the shapes of leaves fluttering, clicking to the floor . . . -
