Plymouth Norsemen Rugby Club Since the formation of the rugby club three years ago, participation and speculation of the game has greatly increased. The Norsemen faced a challenging season, playing highly competitive clubs as U.N.H, U-Mass, U-Mainc, Quincy, Norwich, and Dover. We appreciate those who supported us in the past and welcome anyone interested in having a good time to join the Rugby Football Club.

Cross Country Team P.S.C.’S outstanding cross country team enjoyed another successful year in 1978. The team, tri-captained by Mike Clark. Jim Clark and Russ Cutting saw strong contributions from Dave Bullrick, Art Demers. Rick and Ron Fullerton. Kenn Parker. Bill Ciookrich. Randy Miller, Dave DeSilva and Bruce Piispanan as well as all three captains. The future looks good for continuing P.S.C. brilliance in Cross Country as many members will be returning next year. Rick Fullerton was named “Most Improved in 1978, moving from twelfth place to sixth in the line-up. Rookie of the Year honors went to freshman Art Demers. Coach Rick Hutchins has much to be proud of in his first year of leading the cross country team. 18 The 1978 season was high-lighted by the superb running of senior Jim Clark, who closed out one of the most successful running careers in P.S.C. history. Jim represented Plymouth well during his four years, winning many races, including two first place finishes in the prestigious Plymouth Invitational, and twice being selected P.S.C. athlete of the week. This season Jim broke several course records and was selected as the first recipient of the John C. Foley Crosscountry award.

The 1978 edition of the women's varsity tennis team fared very well indeed, taking into consideration the competition they had to face. The Panther net women finished 4-5 on the season and had some highly impressive performances from some talented returning veterans as well as some up-and-coming stars. Coach Janet Nell’s top three singles players, all just sophomores and competing in 23 matches between them, finished with a combined record of 10-13. a fine achievement for the young women. They were Cheryl Najarian. Gayle MacLcnnan. and Nancy Cote. They all will be back for much more before their PSC careers come to an end. 20
