NEW HAMPSHIRE ©«AN Of INtTftUCTVO arCHAMo , Mirxia DC AN Of ITUPINT PCRtONUll To the Students of Plymouth Teachers College: The same year which has witnessed Astronaut Cooper's spectacular but precisely planned further exploration of space travel; a determined effort to give the negro citizen of the United States equal opportunity in fact os well as in low; a renewed spirit of exploration of factors which ore unifying in some of our greot religious denominations; ond the successful transmission of world-wide television; may prove also to be one of the most significant in the development of Plymouth Teochers College. A new board of trustees concerned wholly with higher education, a broader function which may include liberal arts education as well os preparation for occupations other than teaching, a change in official name to reflect this broader function and service opportunity, continued plant expansion to carry out these new responsibilities effectively, all seem to be developments of tremendous import to the college and the state which it serves. Especially significant of the spirit and capabilities developed here at Plymouth hove been the decisive and vigorous, yet considered and mature, actions taken by faculty and student body to bring obout legislative and executive actions to improve the copobilities of this institution. The responsible citizen, which it is Plymouth's aim to develop, has never before stood firmer, evidenced more loyalty and good judgment, or had greater reason for justifiable pride than during this year which is seeing many issues concerning New Hampshire's higher education system brought into focus ond resolved The members of the Class of 1963 will continue to face endless opportunities and demands for decision and action. May the experiences here at Plymouth inform and strengthen each member of that class so that the decisions will become increasingly backed by wisdom and the actions grow in effectiveness in meeting our world's persisting and evolving problems.
