THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE A readily accepted function of an educational institution is the production of growth in its students. Such growth is more than change — it is change in a desirable direction. Certainly growth in perception of the truth is desirable, but not always easily discernible. Continuous doubt can be depressing and soul shattering, but non-critical belief can bring the growth process to a halt. Plymouth has tried to encourage in you a desirable balance between belief and doubt, a moving forward from previously held positions as new evidence is discovered. This willingness to examine beliefs and modify them as new vistas unfold themselves will, we hope, help you to meet the challenge of educating youth for life in the twenty-first century! Harold E.
