“The Inspector 'General” “The Inspector-General,” a farce by the Russian playwright, Nicolai Gogol, was presented by the Plymouth Players on November 4, 5, 6. The play is a satire on political corruption and humorous foibles in general, in nineteenth century Czarist Russia; although nominally a monarchy, the Russian government had many bureaucratic fixtures similar to our own or those of any large governing body, so that Gogol’s play has lived healthfully and humorously to the present. The Players production was a lively and colorful one which sharply pointed up the foolishness, hypocracy and ambition which can exist anywhere there are governments and men.
