AN APPRECIATION TO OUR PARENTS AND FRIENDS We, the class of 1956, would like to take this way to show our appreciation to our parents and to our friends for what they have done for us during our college years. Knowing full well that we can never thank them enough, we have set aside this page in our yearbook in their honor. THE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE As the bright sun of a summer morning cuts through the darkness and the early morning mists, so does the light of knowledge dispel the darkness of doubt and the obscurity of muddled thinking. It is our great privilege and challenge as teachers to keep alive the spirit of free inquiry, the constant quest for truth, the power to think critically and constructively. As the members of the Class of 1956 go into the ranks of our stimulators and molders of thought and opinion, may you serve to focus upon the problems of our political, social, and economic life the clear light of a free mind, guided but not confined by the accumulated wisdom of the ages. 6 Harold E.
