Superintendent Henry S. Jones is a non-voting member. Nlr. Xvilliam lvlatthews is secretary, and Attorney John Dempsey acts as solicitor. It is highly necessary that we have such men SUPEHINT to guide the community schools through all lvinancial problems that arise. Being prominent citizens ol our community, they are greatly interested in all the problems oli our Plymouth schools. These seven members manage issues dealing with finance, property, athletics. supplies, and text laoolcs. The duty ol' the school hoard is to plan and regu- late all business Concerning the public schools of Plymouth. ENIJENT Professor ilenry Jones has, lor the past 27 years, served as superintendent oi the Plymouth Borough Schools, and, in that time, has spent great effort in maintaining a high standard lor these schools. Known and respected hy teachers, students, and parents throughout the community. Professor .lones has talcen a lceen interest in activities at school and has helped many individuals through the iorm oi advice and encouragement. Upon graduation from Plymouth High School with high honors, he entered Bucknell University. where he received his Bachelor of Arts and Nlaster of Arts degrees in the liield ol education. Before hecoming superintendent, lxflr. Jones liirst taught l.atin and physics lor several years in Plymouth High School. During his 27 years ol leadership. he has helped set and maintain the high standards oi Shaw- nee that have made Plymouth High School out- standing in hoth the scholastic and athletic lvields.

PHINIIIP!-lI.S ARTHUR XV. HARNTAN Sr. High Srhnnl Principal Twenty-six graduating classes prior to the Class of '55 have held commencement exercises under the leadership of Principal Arthur VV. Harman. Professor Harman received his Bachelor oi Science degree upon graduation from Alhright College. l'le was awarded a lVlaster of Science degree after com- pleting his studies at Pennsylvania State College. and has done accredited worlc in advanced science at the University oi Vvest Virginia. l'le coached sports and taught science at Cresson High School prioa to talcing over the principalship ot Plymouth l-lig . As an active participant in community affairs, lVlr. Harman has heen past president oi the Kiwanis Clulo, and has held many other oliliices during his 27 years as a memher of the Clulo. This year, he has the distinction of being one of the Board of Directors. and is chairman of the Vocational Guidance Com- mittee. ln connection with athletics, lVlr. Harman is pres- ident oi the Vvyoming Valley Footloall Conference, and is second vice-president of District Il oi the PIAA. Due largely to his efforts, the Class oi '55 has spent a joyous three years as students oi Plymouth High School. BLYTHE H. EVANS Jr. Hiqh Schnnl Principal For the past decade, lVlr. Blythe Evans has served as a capahle and eiiicient principal oi the Plymouth Junior High School. lVlany oi us can recall his ex- cellent supervision when we graced the halls oi the Junior High huilding only a few years ago. lVlr. Evans is well-lcnown among the junior and senior hoys, as he sponsors the Hi-Y. He is a member ot the Athletic Association. and has given invaluable aid in the supervision of all school sports. lVlr. Evans has the distinction, as many oi us will soon have, oi he-ing a graduate of PHS. Aiter re- ceiving his Bachelor of Arts and lVlaster oi Arts degrees at Buclcnell University, he taught social studies for several years in the High School prior to talcing over the position he now holds. Along with his other duties, lNlr. Evans this year faced the additional prohlem oi adjusting his stu- dents to a new and irregular schedule due to the tire that damaged the huilding, malcing it unusahle for almost a semester. He faced this situation and successfully overcame it, proving his ahility as a capalole principal. t i
