V w l I Class History September, 1949. At the opening of school in 1949, twenty-two green Freshmen gathered in ' the study Hall of Plymouth High School. At last we were in high school. Our class consisted of fourteen boys--Jerry Cookson, Kayo McCollum, Wayne Lovell, Sid Allen, Robert Powell, Jesse Pointer, Jack Breeden, Jerry Breeden, Richard Garlick, LaVerne Roberts, Loren Larson, Benny Waddell, Francis Young, and Rodney Twidwellg eight girls--Marilyn Kenneday, Francie Kamm, Carolyn Moss, Donna Creasey, Lillian Martin, A Bonnie VanF1eet, Joyce Merrick, and Helen White. Before the year was over, however, we had lost Helen White. Our class officers for the Freshmen year were: President--Jerry Cooksongv Vice- President--Kayo McCol1um5 Secretary--Carolyn Moss, Treasurer--Francie Kammg Reporter--Marilyn Kenneday. The student council representatives were Marilyn Kenneday, Kayo McCollum, and Jerry Cookson, Our class advisors were Thomas Mitchell, Vinita Holman, and Paul Senger. , We had scarcely become adjusted to high school life, when the Juniors gave us a Grand Welcome. We came to school dressed in clothing of all kinds, and had to parade around the study hall. As if this wasn't enough, the Juniors gave us a party that evening in the gym, being generous enough to treat us to refreshments of alum, green persirnmons, and cat eyes. The entertainment was jumping into tubs of water, getting shocked, etc. September, 1950. In September, 1950, twenty Sophomores were back at Plymouth High. fiEFEemester we were sorry to lose Joyce Merrick who moved to Ohio. In March, Helen Carter joinedaourrclass. The student council representatives were Marilyn Kenneday, Jerry Cookson, and Kayo McCollum. Mr. Leland Schnake and Mrs. Mariann Metz were our sponsors. The same officers held office the second semester. The most important activity 'of the year was a return party to the Juniors for our initi- ation. We had a Sophomore-Senior hayrack ride which took us to the home of Francie Kamm where we enjoyed a wiener roast before going back to town. We earned money selling pop at basketball games and taking care of the pop machine. September, 1951. When school started last September, twenty-three of the students were Jolly JUHIOKHLWE had gained Robert Swisegood, Doris Husband, and Helen Stoehr. We had lost Benny Waddell. Officers were: President--Jerry Cookson, Vice-President--Robert Swisegoodg Secretary--Carolyn Mossy Treasurer--Kayo McCollum: Reporter--Robert Powell. Our class representatives were Carolyn Moss and Loren Larson. Our sponsors were Miss Ada Corzatt and Mr. Paul Senger. Our biggest money schemewas the Curtis magazine sales which was highlighted by a contest between the girls and boys to see who could sell the most magazines. As the girls were the losers, they gave the boys a delicious chili supper in the home economics room. Early in the fall we greatly enjoyed initiating the Freshmen. Were the worms good, Freshmen? ? In December everyone was happy to receive their class rings. Of course, we were all quite proud of them. Two main money makingprojects were the Junior-Senior carnival, and the Junior play. The play was entitled, PeekTa-boo Penny. It was a three-act comedy under the direction of Mr. Roy Lessly. The Junior-Senior banquet was held at the Durst Bros. Dairy in Quincy, Illinois, on May 16. .
