Glgping, r Typing, a skilled subject, is offered to both juniors and seniors this year. Interest in typing seems to be on the increase as every student in the jun- ior class undertook to master this skill. The beginning students learn to arrange numerous styles of personal and business letters, address envelopes, arrange simple tabulated reports, use car- bon paper and various other simple tasks which might be encountered in the business oflice. The advanced students spend considerable time in an effort to reach a high rate of speed. Their work consists of more complicated busi- ness letters and tabulated reports, proofreading, letters of application, legal documents, hectographing and mimeographing, use of numerous oflice forms, etc. These students are responsible for the publication of the school news- paper. They also do considerable work for local individuals and organiza- tions during the year. At the end of the year the achievement of these students will be reward- ed with certificates and pins. Agriculture The first major activity of the F.F.A. outside of conventional class room work and F .F.A. meetings and nearby trips to special agricultural meetings, was attendance at the Annual National Convention of the F.F.A. at Kansas City. This convention was, no doubt, the high spot of the year for the 15, 000 boys who were there. Forty-seven states and two territories were repre- sented. Rubbing elbows with, and conversations relative to farming, ran- ching, agriculture education, chapter activities, etc. in a group of this size, from all sections of the country is one of the major benefits of large group meetings, such as the one at Cosmopolitan Kansas City. All boys except Richard Miller, Carl VanFleet, Verle Twitchell, Laverne Martin and Lyle Hoener attended this excellent convention. Because We have all out doors for a very roomy farm shop, one might consider farm shop an outside activity. In any event, one wagon, two com- bination grain boxes and hay racks, one farrowing pen, a large brooder house and several minor jobs were done while the weather permitted.
