The staff appreciates the help given in making this yearbook possible. Copyright 1958 [ 1 ] On November 4, 1957, our beloved Principal, Mr. J. S. Fleming, was called from us. His uncon- querable spirit remains with us, however, and in his memory we present one of his favorite selections, which truly shows his philosophy of his chosen field of work — education. WHAT EDUCATION MEANS Education does not mean teaching people what they do not know. It means teaching them to behave as they do not behave. It is not teaching the youth the shapes of the letters and the tricks of numbers, and then leaving them to turn their arithmetic to roguery, and their literature to lust. It means, on the contrary, training them into the per- fect exercise and kingly continuance of their bodies and souls. It is a painful continual and difficult work to be done by kindness, by watching, by warning, by precept, and by praise; but, above all, by example. — John Ruskin [ 2 ] It’s High Time- Speaking of Time- that someone said thanks to a constant counselor, who guided us in the years we needed his understanding and kindness most; Yes, It’s High Time MR. Thy secret lies Within the hearts Of every teacher dear. Without whose help we would be lost; They chart the course For us to steer. The four years hove ended Our high school days. With hearts unbending. We ' d like to praise All who hove mode These years such o joy; And now we ' ll ne ' er forget The days forever more. We ' re sod to be leaving our high school. The school that we oil love so well; And in our hearts we will always hold dear Our wonderful, happy high school years.
