I took a piece of living clay, And gently formed it day by day, And molded it with power and art, A young child's soft and yielding heart, lt come again when years were gone, It was a man I looked upon, He still that early impress bore And I could change that form no more.f' So is a teacher! He is setting the dye by which he cuts, shapes, and molds the student for life. A sculpturer chips at a rough block of granite for years before he completes his piece of art. He has one advantage over a teacher as he can start over if he makes a mistakeg a teacher cannot. To be a sculpturer a teacher must have tools. The sculpturer has but simple tools such as a mallet, and a chisel. A teacher has the more complex tools of learning. Like the masterpiece of an artist, a teacher's work is seldom really appreciated until it has long since been completed. ard of Education Y as- ' I HAROLD FISCHER AUSTIN STICKER ESTHER HULSING WARREN I- SMITH JAMES MITCHELL President Vice President Secretary Treasurer Trustee E an J----' ,,,...f-ff Ig? xii ERINTENDENT Mr Russell Isbister Mrs Garnet Suckney secretary ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT X X, Mr Melvin Blunk Miss Barbara Johnson secretary Mr Melvm Blunk form erly hlgh school coordinator of occupational trammg, was assistant of the Plymouth Community School District 1I'l May 1956 Mr Blimk works directly with Mr Isbister, Super mtendent of Schools espec 1ally 1n assummg a major role 1n managing the bus1ness affa1rs of the school district He assists 1n the prepara tion of the budget and pur chases all supplies and equip ment for the schools assists 1n the planning and super v1s1on of mamtenance and repairs of school buildings and grounds 4 s. A 5,5 3' Y, Girls' Athletic Association To allow many girls in school the opportunity to learn good sports manship, how to get along with others, and to have fun' are the aims of the Girls Athletic Asso- ciation according to Mrs . Cigile, adviser. An attempt to fulfill this purpose is made every Monday after school when the more than eighty mem- bers take part in such sports as basketball, touch football, badmin- ton, softball, volleyball, tennis, and trampoline. The G.A.A. members divide into teams and compete against each other durmg championship tournaments Basketball and volleyball tournaments have been won by the teams captamed by Nancy Eaton, for the past two years Several playdays are held dur- ing the school year at which time Plymouth girls compete with girls from other schools in the sport popular at that particular time of year. Each girl who attends the Mon- day evening activities receives ten points toward her G.A.A. letter. Points are also earned by attend- ing playdays and acting as a manager assisting Mrs . Cigile. To be a fully pledged member of G.A .A . one-hundred-and-fifty points must be earned during the first year of membership. When 150 points are attained a G.A.A. emblem is acquired Next the girl may earn a 500 point letter then a 1000 point trophy Winners of these letters for 1956 1957 may be found in the Sprmg Supplement N Eaton M West K West M Williams M Jensen ROW II D Gra.bowsk1,N Alford D Aldrich P Nickerson M Reddeman J Rowe B Bennett S Davis j Wilson M Wesley G Bowles R Smith S Hulsmg S Noll Mrs Clglle J Nagy L Irwin S Mather P Stone G O'Donnell A Taylor C Mun shaw G Love G Graham B Brunnan S Robmson ROW III M Walters I Clarke B Booth V Sockow C Calkins I Bondie F Bolen W Miller C Allen M Bauer P Dav1dson,S Horvath J Bennett P McFarlan K Lent M Hanson,L Jordahl K Selle C Balfour I Willoughby J Nagy K Yakley K McLure S Klssabeth C Pomeroy ROW IV D McLennan,j Kell S Overmeyer,J Kalmbach J I-lardlman J Stecker, A Scott C Kessler j Widmaxer S Roberts B Argo P Bishop M Bassett, D Robertson S Mathias Left to Right, ROW I: j.
