The person chosen by our class to receive this honor was always there to see that things were going right, whether it was at a dance, con- cessions, or any class project. This person engineered what will be one of our fondest high school memories, our Junior- Senior Prom. It is with admiration and gratitude that we dedicate this 1965 MAYFLOWER to Louisa Davis. s ON ’65 TRATION Directing us throughout high school career were administration and faculty leadership, instruction, counsel have pointed the toward a meaningful As we leave PHS. we much their direction lias fited us . . . and we for it. ■ ■■■' ........ And he slept. 24 Senior Officers Ellen Skinner. President; Donne France. Vice-President; Janice Burroughs, Treasurer; Kathy Holland, Secretary. Class History In September of 1960, we came into Plymouth High School as uncertain, wandering Freshmen. Four years seemed to stretch interminably before us. But even in that first year, we began to feel the slow swing toward direction '65. As one of the first steps toward our goal, we chose officers: Bill Robertson, President; Ed Franklin, Vice- President; Arlene Powell, Secretary; and Becky Fanning, Treasurer. These officers organized our first class party May Mist. Becoming Sophomores, we found ourselves at the half-way point in meeting our goal. Our leaders were Ken Kleinke, President; Ed Franklin, Vice-President; Kathy Holland, Secretary; and Becky Fanning, Treasurer. The class party was Swing into Spring. Our Junior year presented the biggest responsibility we would have as a class-- putting on the Junior-Senior Prom. By selling at basketball games and haggling in committees, we were able to give the Senior class a beautiful Far Eastern Fantasy. Our guides were once again our class officers: John Doss, President; Donna France, Vice-President; Kathy Holland, Secretary; and Ed Franklin, Treasurer. After three years that seemed to have flown past, we found our direction 65 straight ahead--our graduation. For the final phase of our years in PHS, we elected our officials: Ellen Skinner, President; Donna France, Vice-President; Kathy Holland, Secretary; and Janice Burroughs, Treasurer. Linda Johnson was chosen Homecoming Queen while Tanya Van Horn and Evelyn Lawrence reigned with her as her court. For the last time as students, we cheered the Rockies and Pilgrims. We presented Ghost Wanted as our class play in March. Together we chose and worked to reach our direction '65, but this is only the first goal. Now each of us must choose a new direction; one we hope will have the value and pleasure of our direction '65 . ROBERTA SUE AMAN S.S.S. 1,2,3,4; F.N.A. 3; C.A.A. I; Mayflower 4; Pep Club 1,2. Rockies in New Conference Under the guidance of Coach Jon Mayfield, the Plymouth Rockies compiled a record of 3 wins and 5 losses with 1 tie. The season was opened with the newly formed Conference, Northern Lakes, Jamboree. All teams gave an impressive showing. The Rockies traveled to Knox for the season's opener. After dragging for the first half they showed real spirit in defeating Knox 19-6. The next foe was the Warsaw Tigers. The Rockies fought hard, but the Tigers snowed them 20-0. The determined Rockies fell to the Penn Kingsmen by a 19-0 score on a rainswept Lincoln Field in their home opener. The weather was even more bleak as Concord came from behind to tie Plymouth at Elkhart's Rice Field a week later 6-6. This marked the season's ebb for the struggling Rockies. Wabash came from behind to crush the Rockies in their next gridiron tilt 32-12. The fighting Rockies fought back in their homecoming contest to tame the arch rival Zebra 12-0. The Rockies played some of the finest ball of the season in retaining the coveted Hickory Paddle. Manchester was the next to fall under the Rockies. Plymouth overpowered them 19-0. Bremen pulled an unexpected upset when they edged them 6-0 on the Lion Field. The lough Rockies defense gave up little ground, but Bremen was able to penetrate it for a valuable TD. Battling for N L C status in their final game, the Rockies closed the season with a heart-breaking 6-0 loos to Nappance at Lincoln Field. Terry Ham me 1 was selected to the All-Conference First Team, and Cecil Ottow and Ron Dodson were named to the Second Team. The season started with a trip to Rochester where they met defeat 3-0 in a one-hitter. The next two games were equally dismal as the Plymouth nine bowed to Bremen 10-5 and Warsaw 18-5. Then came Manchester and a long sought victory 4-1. After losing to Nappanee 6-3, and to Rochester and Bremen again by 5-0 and 4-3 scores the Pilgrims tasted their final and sweetest victory. Warsaw, leading the league and expecting another easy rout of P.H.S., fell 7-5 to an outstanding team effort by the Pilgrims. The game featured two Plymouth home-runs by Kralovansky and Wamacut and the best defensive per- formance of the year. The Pilgrims ended the season with losses to Manchester 6-5 and Nappanee 9-8. «6 Cheerleaders Freshmen— Jane Krcighbaum, Sharon Zrhner, Julie Jam'll, Lynn Robertson. Pep Club at Pep Session Go! Now. there is just so much time in the world, but it is divided equally. No one has more time than someone else. The difference is, one person uses it wisely, and when so used, there is not enough of it. Another uses it unwisely, and wastes it, and finds too much on his hands. Time goes this way but once. Each one of us can lay up a store of good deeds, convictions upheld, and kindnesses performed lovingly. Such accomplish- ments will endure in the hearts of those about us. Time cannot take them away.
