THE MAYFLOWER of 19 3 5 Published by THE SENIOR CLASS of LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL COPYRIGHT 1935 By RUTH SHATFOR D Editor-In-Chief KENNETH GOODWELL Business Manager Another year has come and gone, another Mayflower has come into port, bearing a colorful cargo of art. The staff, believing that all students are artists in the panorama of life, has painted for you in this book, a series of pictures, symbolizing our cultural growth and recalling happy days spent in Lincoln High School. To MARY JANE WHITE, who has con- tributed so generously of her time and talent to the activities of our school, we the class of 1935, dedicate this book. ARTHUR W. THOMSON President ARTHUR M. Bertha Carothers Helen McGaughey SPONSORS Terrence A. Kleclcner Mary E. Holdermann CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1931, we entered Lincoln High School one hundred and thirty- seven strong. We were green,M of course, but we were determined not to pretend that we were frightened. But there's something about a superior senior grinning at you that makes all your fingers thumbs, your feet tangle, and your voice falter. But we lived through it and started some of our members in football, basketball, and debate. During our sophomore year, we just slipped along. Several members of the class were outstanding, but most of us were just sophomores. The outstanding event of our junior year was the Junior-Senior Banquet, which we planned and which, we believe, was a pleasing success. It was a nautical affair, the theme being the Fleur de Mai. And now we are seniors. We have had four happy years in high school. We have presented the school with athletes, scholars, debaters, and musicians. And when we have quit the school, we hope that those left behind will feel that our time here was not spent in vain. 25 SENIORS DELPHINE BALL If you would grow tall and stately, you must always walk sedately.
