Vigilant life, your praises proclaim. Though the flame may flicker, the spirit glows, And the noble never cease to light the day. Unjust Death in your cloak of darkness, Stealing the noble with one swift stroke, Why must you rob so prematurely The knights of their souls with a last death blow? -Sheila Bloom , 'l 1'm In Memoriam Academics In our land of equal opportunity, one must earn his position. Never before has the need been so great for qualified persons to fill these positions. To equal this need, Plymouth Carver High School proudly maintains that its students will excel in our Great Society Teachersg not disciplinarians, but strategists and specialists, forever broaden our scope of knowledge. Through their commendation and criticism they help prepare us for life in our complex world, where we must play many roles. f X I , 1 . , 1, 1 I '-. Leaves, those brittle shells of once-vibrant nature rustle 'neath a different pace. The first step . . . reluctant . . . lingers on sun speckled memories. Then gathers momentum as reality asserts itself The brisk demands of scholarship allows little time for wistful daydreams. Students concentrate tightening up days that must contain History, football, math, Student Council, French, Chorus, English, and after school jobs. Greedily pursuing pleasure to squeeze the most satisfaction out of inadequate time. We become Aware. if -N X X NR! From the opening gun it was clear that the Eagles would win their starting games with ease. High point of this part of the season was the Whit- man-Hanson game in which six P-C players hit double figures and Beanie Gomes threw in a long jumper With 59 seconds left in the contest to give P-C 100 points. In the second round Plymouth-Carver faced some sharpened opponents, but in spite of the fierce competi- tion, the Eagles rallied to top the Old Colony league undefeated. The Blue Eagles can also be proud of placing three men on the All-Star squad-Dave Conroy fcaptainj, Dave Maccaferri, and Chris Gray-with Steve Rogers and Bob Williams receiving honorable mention. The boys put on a fine exhibition against the top men in the league and squeaked out an 84-80 Win. The 1967-68 Plymouth-Carver team was high-lighted by a great outside shooter in Dave Conroy, good re- bounders in Chris Gray and Dave Maccaferri, sturdy, ball-hawking defensive players in Bob Williams and Steve Rogers, and a strong bench to back them up. Robis- and ational Honor Socienf The Student Council, representing the entire student body of Plymouth-Carver High School, is one of the most active organizations within the school. The Council serves its students by scheduling activities on a school calender, presenting assemblies, and running class elec- tions. Besides its intraschool projects, the Coun- cil is continuing the support of a foster child in South Viet Nam. It has also undertaken a new project this year in conjunction with the Peace Corps. The goal is to raise 81,000 toward the building of a new school in an under- developed country. Each year members of the Junior and Senior classes are elected to the Massosoit Chapter of The National Honor Society. Selection of members is determined by a vote of the Faculty Committee based on quali- fications of scholarship, character, leadership and service. On October 30th twelve new members were inducted at an evening meeting. In the spring some Juniors and Seniors will be taken into the Honor Society. D. Roncaratig C. Bramhallg R. DiSalvatoreg S. To qualify for membership one must be a member in good standing in his class, he must also have the ability to serve the school. This organization is run by a five member board consisting of a chair- man, Vice-chairman, and two representa- tives at large. The corps keeps a member- ship of nine seniors, seven juniors, five sophomores, and four freshmen. The Dean's Council's main purpose is to sponsor value-building activities. The members serve as Big sisters to under- classmen, offer suggestions for school policies, and sponsor talent shows and programs beneficial to the student body. The Council consists of girls from all four classes and is also a representation from prep, business and general curricu- lums. 53 , 'i -az. I, . Westwood, Mass 182 ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS We the editors of the 1968 PILGRIM wish to express our gratitude to the following people who have given so freely of their time and effort to aid us in the realization of our goals: Miss Anita Drisko, our advisor, not only for her advice and guidance, but also for her laughter and friendship. Mr. Robert Vantine, our representative from the Delmar Printing Com- pany, for his useful suggestions and valuable time and experience. Mr. Edward Buckley, who, by his speedy transportation of material to Westwood, helped us to meet our deadlines. Susan Dunham, our conscientious business manager, for her willingness to assist in any problems that arose, and for her continuous good nature. Ellen Minsky, our self-appointed typist, without whose efforts the senior section would never have been typed. The Dicksons, our photographers, for their efficiency and realiability. Stephen Radcliffe, for the extensive coverage of the Boy's Varsity Bas- ketball games. Mr. Yoshiro Sanbonmatsu and Mr. Robert Merrifield, whose assistance in the literary aspects of our book proved invaluable. The Administration, faculty, and custodians, for their patience and sym- pathy for the problems we encountered. The Editors, staffs and interested students, whose diligent performances insured the scheduled completion of the yearbook. The friends, sponsors, and advertisers, for their financial support and for their confidence in our youthful venture. Lynette Heath Christopher Buckley 183 A 1 ut Q mph 6?
