FBESHMEN 1949-50 As freshies we received the usual teasing and razzing of the upper classmen. We little greenies gazed with amazement at the long halls and the noisy crowds and the rush here and there every time the bell rang. We soon adjusted ourselves, however, and became acquainted with our classmates by having a Get Acquainted party. Our only money raising activity was our first class dance which was a huge success. Maroon and white were chosen as our class colors. The class officers chosen for the year were: President, Edward Karp: Vice President, Eugene Beigh- leyg Secretary, Marilyn Henderson. H SOPHOMORES 1950-1951 As sophomores we were more acquainted with the students and thus joined in more activ- ities. We had two class dances that were very successful. Our officers once more were wisely chosen: President, Patricia Pattockg Vice Presi- dent, Ioan Borish: Secretary, Shirley Koban. IUNIORS 1951-1952 During our Iunior year, we really became active in the events of the school. Many of our boys were proving themselves on the athletic field. We were very proud of our football team winning the Allegheny Kiski Valley Conference Championship. Our play, Desperate Am- brose, a western comedy, was a big hit. We also had a Sucker Day and many successful dances. Then came the big event of the year, the Iunior-Senior Prom, Oriental Garden, held in honor of the Class of 1952. The following offi- cers helped to make our Iunior year a success: President, lack Sanoske: Vice President, Eu- gene Beighley, Secretary, Shirley Koban. SENIORS 1952-1953 We realize that we have risen to the rank of dignified S e n i o r s. Our most successful achievements were our Senior Class play, Hil1- billy Wedding, a hilarious cornedy, that was a thrilling success. The trip to Washington, D.C. and various other events that were wonderful and well worth remembering. We will always cherish our memories of the good times we have spent in the halls and class rooms of our school and the many friends that we have made. When we were just freshmen, we looked forward to being upperclassmen. We now have cer- tain rights and privileges we never had before and we certainly mean to exercise them. When our officers were elected and the final votes tabulated we learned our offi- cers were: President, Iohn Hicks: Vice President, Sattie Moyer: and Secretary, Georgann Davis. After our elections, we went to work. We had dances, and lollipop day which proved very successful. Then came our Iunior Class play, Bolts and Nuts, and it was one of the most important events to get ready for the Iunior Prom. Through the cooperation of the class the prom was a great success. After a year of hard work and study. we have obtained the title of: dignified Seniors CLASS OFFICERS President ICHN HICKS Vice Presxdent SATTIE MOYER Secretary GEORGANN DAVIS Fxrst row C Barthoff A Pnvenotto U Telleck E Tomcsanyx L Black B Shearer D S1mpson C Bonsh Second row E Bolt K Specht B Vormack D Mlklos V Truax D Taylor S Naunchlck M Blerbower M Plverotto K Patla Third row A Smead I Obxes W Truax W Shumsky L Tarr B Shaugnessy M Uhnn Fourth row L LCIW D Stxller L Pass1erb I Myers A Boeno I Shremshrock C Wagner CLASS OF 1954 F' 6 :ff I rf 'Nwv pr ,Q--T Flrst row M Kovach B Devore C Hlllxard G Campbell D Bashdas S Greer F Baur G Echels Second row T Barnett G Davxs I Bossert P Huber! CRITEBION STAFF This staff of Iuniors and Seniors assisted by Pauline Haubrich and advisor, Mr. Mc- Iunkin, worked at a hurried pace to solve many difficulties before the deadline. This year the staff was arranged into five groups, each headed by a senior, in an effort to receive better writeups. While the Literary Staff was hard at work so was the Business Staff. With Marilyn Hen- derson and advisor, Miss McFarlane, the staff could not help but be a success in their can- vassing for ads and selling subscriptions. The staff hopes that you, the reader, enjoys this book as much as we have in writing it. We know it will bring you fond memories you will always cherish. Braun. G. Campbell, I. Matijak, M. STUDENT COUNCIL HOMEROOM REPRESENTATIVES WFT One ofthe most noteworthy organizations of Plum High is the Student Council. Com- posed of eighteen members, two boys and two girls from each of the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades: one boy and one girl elected from their respective seventh, eighth, or ninth grade, and a representative chosen in each homeroom, our governing body is one we can be proud of. This year under the unsurpassable sponsorship oi Mr. Frack, the Council has edited a school handbook which every student considered invaluable. As a member of the National Associations of Student Councils and the Western Pa. Association, our Student Council has sponsored many successful activities and projects this year. Among these were the fund-raising bake sales and various dances. OFFICERS President.. ....., . ,..,.,. .. . . ........ Its purpose is to promote an interest and knowledge in economics which will prove helpful in future years. The girls, under the cap- able direction of Mrs. Hilgar, enjoy a field trip to a nearby company or factory each year. This year they toured the Latrobe Woolen Mill. Through this gained knowledge, they are helping to further a richer and happier community and a greater America. E? First row: G. Mower, M. Gregg, C. I Williams. M. Moines, R. Chiera, P. Kline, P. The members are always on the job. Their duty is to stop most of the confusion between classes and on the buses. With the addition of new seventh and eight graders their job was made more difficult this year. The Safey Patrol is under the jurisdiction of the Student Council. Mr. Panza heads the Bus Patrol and Mr. Hilgar the Hall Patrol. The Library Assistants is a fairly newtclub here at Plum. It was started in 1951 to ac- quaint the assistants with each other. Under the supervision of Mrs. Clark the assistants check the books on the shelves, mend not-too-badly-torn books, check books out, make out overdue slips, and many other tasks which do not require the trained skill of a librarian. Belonging to this organization prepares some of the girls for a future career. It also is a help in English classes since they become acquainted with the many books and authors. This organization has aided the classes by printing all the tickets for the class plays and dances. Also, such lonns as daily and class absence reports are successfully put out by the printing shop. Because this year's instructors graduated, new competent instructors have been select- ed to take over their job. These students will also be sponsored by Mr. Prescott. STAGE CREW C. Lukitsch, E. It is the duty of these boys to see that everything is well for the assembly programs and plays. They are always on the job help- ing to make them better. The Latin Club was formed with a few active members in the year 1948: it has now grown to be one of the most active and progressive clubs in the high school. The club is com- posed of all the students taking Latin and those who have completed at least one year of Latin. This year started off with the initiation of new members in November. The club held two bake sales which were huge successes. One of the things that every member looked for- ward to was the Christmas caroling. The annual Latin Banquet held in April, which was a gala affair, proved to be a great success. Also in April a very enjoyable weekend trip was taken to Glenrock. The trip to the Planetarium proved very interesting and educational. Many other social events such as dances and parties were held. The club has a good start and big plans for the future. PUBLIC ADDRESS CLUB P. Pattock. V. Zucco, V. Kozusko, C Lukitsch. The Public Address Club is a newly organized club here at Plum High School. The speakers are made up of Iuniors and Seniors. These students must have good speaking quali- ties. They are picked from tryouts when in their Iunior year. Each student has a certain length of time to make announcements. They announce the news of the happenings around the school. It is one that all would like to be a part of. BAND COUNCIL D4 BAND COUNCIL First row: M. Metro, I. O'Bl0qk, R, Rogers, M. Gruphofer.
