They include Tara Gilmore, Troy McClymont, Marcus Mosbrucker, and Dallen Wood. Jennifer Berklund joined us, and early in the year Ty Brown joined us only to leave at semester break. During Homecoming our class received an unfair second place on our float, Pound 'Em. During the year we have all achieved many goals, become closer friends, and have had fun. We've begun our climb to graduation as lowly freshmen, and, as all freshmen classes before us, we've taken the wrath of upperclassmen. We first experienced this after taking fourth place on our homecoming float. We survived this defeat and went on to survive our first term papers as high schoolers. This was a feat in itself. We hope we can continue to successfully surpass all mountains that our freshman year will bring so that next year these mountains will only be molehills. (Kathy Jo) The Little Rascals Our eighth grade year has certainly been different from our seventh grade year. One of the biggest changes is that we have our classes throughout the high school, not only the third floor. The sec- ond floor is probably where we spend most of our time since the study hall and our lockers are both on this floor. We have enjoyed the changes, and we look forward to next year. We were the first 7th grade class to be incorporat- ed into the high school be- cause of the change in the sys- tem. Since we are now with high schoolers, we face many mountains. These mountains have Upper Classmen writ- ten all over them. This year was very exciting because we had the opportunity to compete in school athletics and wear a true Wildcat uniform. We look forward to our 8th grade year, and getting one step closer to graduation. Our new coach, Dona Welliever, was the first change. As the season progressed, many changes were made to help us gel as a team. By the time divisional tournaments approached, the team consisted of two seniors, three juniors, four sophomores, and three freshmen. All in all, the season was one which benefited everyone. As a coach once said to me, Success is a journey, not a destination. You must take it one step at a time. We may not have ended the season in the spot we would have liked, but we took many steps towards accomplishing success. The 1989-90 Lady Cats will face the same journey as we did, but with a little more experience. I want to wish them the best of luck next year. The season began like any other season. We started practice in the sweltering heat of late August. Everyone anticipated a good year when 36 boys showed up for the first day of practice. The team was young, but the players worked hard to become better each game. A couple of close losses early in the season hurt the team, but we rebounded to finish 4-4 overall and 3-3 in the conference. We just barely missed the play-offs. Lonnelle Ball This has been a year of many fulfilled dreams. We accomplished as much, if not more, than we expected at the beginning of the season. After our start of 2 wins and 3 losses, we changed our attitude and start- ed to play like we knew we could. We won the conference title, won the division title, and brought a 13 game winning streak into the state tourney. Despite critics, we man- aged to take 4th place because of hard work and determination. These memories would not have been possible without the encouragement of our die-hard fans, who stuck with us to the end. Jeff Lee Troy Sundsted Hooperman No what do I do?!-Chad M. The 1989 girl's golf team wasn't expected to do much at state, but we competed, gave it our best shot, and matched the boys' team for 3rd place at state! Both the boys' and girls' teams competed their best, and with the help and sup- port from coaches Ralph and Judy Jensen, and Glen and Scott Miller, we finished higher than expected. I will miss the rest of the team and all of the fun and good times we have had together. I want to wish future golfers lots of luck in the years to come and always remember to BE THE BALL!!! The boys were divided into 12 cities as well as 2 political parties. Next, the boys elected officials to run a government simulation. Finally, they operated the govern- ment at city, county, and state levels. The cities competed against each other in football and basketball, as well as volleyball. An exciting as well as an educational time was had by all. Casey Getty Lonnie Ball and Casey Getty Fortunately for me, I didn't have to be a poli- tician to attend Girls' State. Nor did I have to be well-versed in parliamentary procedure or be up on current events. When I arrived in Helena, I had little back- ground in government and politics. In a week's time at Girls' State, I had gained a good understanding of how our state gov- ernment operates, and I had fun all at the same time. But it wasn't all politics. Our week also consist- ed of self-esteem seminars, tours of muse- ums, and many other fun activities. At Girls' State I met many different people and made some close friends. It was a week I will never forget. Lonnie Ball I The Homecoming On Saturday, October 1st, Plentywood held its homecom- ing. All week long the freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors worked on the floats. During the week, many of the students participated in Grandparents' Day, Hippie Day, and Orange and Black Day. On Saturday coronation was held at 10:00 a.m. Jill Chandler was chosen queen, and Casey Getty was king. The parade immediately followed the coronation, and after the parade, Lettermen's Club sponsored a chili feed. At 1:00 the game against the Cir- cle Wildcats began.
