Presented for your entertainment by 1987 TREASURE CHEST Plenty wood High School Plentywood, Montana 59254 © 37 The Class of Nineteen Eighty-Seven has finally achieved its ultimate goal: graduation. It’s been a long twelve years for us. but they have been fun and growing years. Throughout these years many people have come to join our Class of '87. and a few have left us. Dean Suchy. Jackie Dutten- hefer. and Steve Linderman left us with one year to go. We have made up for these losses by making other friends from various towns through sports and other achievements. Plentywood High School will lose seven senior girls from the varsity basketball team and five seniors from the boys' basketball team. We’ve proudly taken last all four years in the Homecoming Parade and managed to sneak in second during Hall Week during our Senior year. Though our ac- complishments have not always been tip top. the Class of 1987 is proud to proclaim. We’re number one! Jonna Overby 90 The Class of 1990 has had a lot of news this year. We have some new people in our class. Dwight Von Schriltz joined us at the beginning of the year. We also have two new girls: Tonya Popoff and Michelle Morin. They arrived during the second semester. The record for the boys’ freshmen basketball team was 15- 1. while the girls’ team was 8-8. In our first attempt at the float competition, we came in third. During Hall Week, we waited until the last minute to decorate and came in a deserving fourth. We look forward to being Sophomores next year, then we won’t be known as the little Freshmen anymore. Jason Polk 4 '33 The Junior Class grew this year with the addition of Spen- cer Ball. Jason Burgoin. Linda and Alex Cuevas. Sheila Halverson. Holly Kuhn, and Russ McGriff. Our class was also very busy. We took a disappointing second place in the Homecoming float competition, and we took third place in the Hall Week competition. Our major success was the Junior Class Play entitled Our Miss Brooks in which fifteen juniors took part. In sports. Tasha Barber and Ember Salveson were chosen as volleyball’s All Conference Honorable Mention, and Tyler Will was chosen for First Team All Conference Bas- ketball. The Junior-Senior Banquet took place on April 23rd and the Prom on April 24th. Our theme was Will You Still Love Me?” by Chicago, and the colors were light blue, dark blue, and silver. We look forward to next year and hope to make it the best that it can be. Kim Kanning Shelly Chandler '3V The Class of ’89 is in their tenth year of unity. We have both lost and gained students this year. Shannon Angermeier and Vondra Huft joined our class for the first time, while Carie Chandler and Rebekah Raffaeli rejoined us. We lost one classmate. Molly Tvedt. But no matter what the changes, we work well together. We triumphed in con- structing the winning Homecoming float, entitled Wimpy. Wimpy Warriors; Hefty. Hefty Wildcats. We also success- fully covered our hall with posters and won first place during the Hall Week competition. Our sports’ season was short but memorable. The J.V. basketball season ended with records of 5-12 for girls and 12-6 for boys. Heather Westergard Seniors Seniors 'Ttlrnt£a aju ' jtbhen Seniors 3 '-f Jbcu u. I think I’m gonna be sick. So what are you doing after the game? Butter fingers! Oh, what a feeling . . Toyota. What happened to the oth- er half of my leg? The 1986-87 football season began like any other as we gathered in the scorching sun. High anticipation of winning was in the hearts of all. Not many people thought our football team would go far, due to the few number of seniors on the team: Todd Bykonen, Zach Cheetham, Lonnie Michels, Troy Thompson, and Cory Zentner. Another disadvantage was the size of our players; but what we lacked in size, we made up in speed. After our first two big wins over Crosby and Poplar, many people changed their minds. Our 3 and 5 season proved to be a lot of hard work and concentrated efforts. With our hopes of state in the future, we will all come back tougher than nails and ready to say that we are proud to be a WILDCAT.” Spencer Ball and John Mann WILDCATS 26 20 14 14 0 6 32 16 OPPONENTS 8-Crosby 0-Poplar 18-Circle 36-Fairview 43-Wolf Point 13-Sidney 21-Broadus 40-Baker Basketball Varsity Miss D’Angelo. Finally drifting off to La La Land The 1986-87 Speech and Drama season was like any other: the same teams, the same places to compete, and the same early morning changes. There were, of course, the same old faces: Barbara. Jeff. Kim, Mike. Stephanie, and Tricia. There were also a lot of new faces: Steve. Andrea. James. Kathy Jo. Lenae. Linn, and Shelly. We all had high hopes of going to State, but only one person succeeded in her dream. Barbara went to State and competed up through semi-finals. The team had a lot of fun and enjoyed meeting new people. We all look forward to next year. mmk 1 . Kim Kanning Officers: President. Stephanie Van Curen. Vice President. Jackie Miller. It was a long trip made even longer by taking the wrong turn at Great Falls. Once in Helena. I met many politicians and girls from all over the state of Montana. While at Girls' State. I learned how our govern- ment works by taking part in a role playing game: we divided our dormitory floors into cities and made our own local government officials ranging from a mayor to a dog catcher to a garbage man. From there we organized a state government and elected court justices, a secretary of state, and a governor. At the end of the week, we spent two days touring the Capitol and viewing the offices of politicians and the chambers of the House and Senate. “My experience at Girls' State is one that I will never forget, and I encourage anyone who has the chance to attend to do so. Robie Marsh Traveling on the Wildcat bus with people from as near as Westby and as far as Glasgow, we arrived in Dillon. Everyone was as- signed a dorm room, a city name (mine was Colter). a county name (Bridger), and a party name. We had city meetings and elected officials. The city officials ran the city thereafter. From the combined city groups, we elected county officers. Political party meetings were held for all cities. At the final election, a Governor and Lieutenant Governor were elected after the parties presented their views The cities and competitive sporting events such as football, bas- ketball. and volleyball Records were kept and championship games were held. After a full seven days of political events, competitive events, and associating with other people, we departed for home. a. . Cory Zentner Sociaiy Honor On January 29. 1987 Enc Ar nek lev.
