Ami here on this earth to fill a place? Am I here on this earth to do a deed? Ami here on this earth to run a race? Am I here on this earth to just succeed? These questions ask I of myself each day, I ponder them before each step I take; To understand which is the better way, To be correct in every choice I make. I do not know what lies ahead of me. The battles that I face remain unknown, I face the day in hopes of victory, A good example to the world be shown. If only I could see and understand The better would my pathway then be planned. 3 Laurie Overby High School Life... Ain’t It Great? It was a very busy year. Along with Fall came Football season and Homecoming which means parades, floats. Icings, queens, cheerleaders and pneumonia! Most of the boys who weren't running over the hills and through the woods in cross country were tackling dummies on the football field. . .and the girls were rooting for the boys who were running over the hills and through the woods and tackling the dummies on the football field. The girls who weren't drooling over the boys were dribbling on the bas- ketball court. In Novem- ber the seniors came stumbling over the yellow brick road (and their lines) in their class play The Wizard of Oz. With Win- ter came wrestling and boys' basketball which brought the much dreaded ulcers. Then in December came the Christmas Ball. Help me make it through the night was the famous cry. Plop, plop, fizz, fizz came in close sec- ond. When Spring arrived we traded our snow boots for golf and track shoes. We pole-vaulted into a. . . . . . hole-in-one. In the month of March the Juniors had their hands full with the play A Handful of Rain- bows. The Seniors rejoiced on May 24 as the Underclass- men looked on with sad faces. Finally the big day arrived, May 27, everyone stormed out of the school with a yell. . . taking with them a year of good memo- ries. by Barb Gebhardt and Torey Johnson 8 Honor Society LEFT TO RIGHT: James Ruby, Vicki Lane, Joanne Johnson, Tami Partyka, Jill Abenroth, Barbara Gebhardt, Marilee Wilson, Steve Johnson. Wildcat Pride Each year Homecoming has been a time of anticipation for our football team and this year because of certain changes in program it was more so. Coronation, the beginning of excitement, was one of the best we have ever had. This year, as a change of pace, the student body chose not only a queen but also a king. The royalty chose not only a queen but also a king. The royalty chosen were: King-Rick Schultz, Queen-Debbie Benson. Coronation ended with the class of '78 winning the jug for the first time. On Friday, in preparation for the big game, was the annual parade. Juniors felt victorious this year, as they won the football also for the best float-a Wildcat standing eight-feet tall. The boys gave a tremendous effort for a wildcat victory against Wolf Point. With the score 0-0, the Cats went into overtime and lost 6-0. You gave your best boys and we were all proud of you! Homecoming comes but once a year, and we made the best of it. Good Luck in all the years to come. CAST Off Stairway to Heaven The 1976 Christmas Ball was held on December 28th in the Plentywood Fieldhouse. Fifty-two couples attended the annual event. As the evening progressed and the ex- citement mounted, Larry Berland and Debbie Benson were announced as King and Queen of the Ball. King Larry and Queen Debbie led the Grand March to the song Stairway to Heaven. The music was provided by the band Smooth Move. After the dance, the festivities continued as the couples attended the show, The Great Scout and Cathouse Thursday. A few of the more energetic couples also had breakfast at the various cafes in town. 1. Maybe if I keep on smiling my crown won't fall off. 2. It's only 10:00! First, it is an institution of learning. But it's more than that. Lots more. It Is little things like . . . Walking through the halls and smiling at kids you might never see again after graduation, and it's going to the library every day and reading the same magazine . . . Squirting water and blowing up test tubes in lab. Yelling at a basketball game until your throat hurts and then crying because you're proud of your team—even if they lose. And it's wearing long underwear under your formal to the Homecoming game. It is other things too . . . It is smelling pizza from the lunch room at 11:30 while you're starving, and it's starting on your term paper two days before it's due. It is running your stockings on the swivel chairs in the biology room or wiping grease on your clothes and wondering how much dust there must be on top of Mr. Gackle's ducks and eagles. Secondly, it is an institution of dicipline. It is throwing paper airplanes in band and sticking gum wrappers in the tuba. It is sleeping in study hall, poking napkins in chicken wire and reading MAD magazines at committee meetings. 1 It is posing with a pasted grin on your face for your senior ping pongs and it's waving to Duane while he shovels the sidewalks. It is memorizing Henry VIII's six wives and trying to grasp the meaning of existentialism. It is searching for the truth. It is scraped gum, bitten fingernails, admit slips, lost pencils, Mr. Johnson's voice and Mrs. Prescott's adventures in far-away lands. It is the American flag in the breeze. — L. J. revised by M. E. ___________________________________________________________________________________________J Lettermen’s Banquet High School Week Four Juniors attended High School Week in Bozeman this spring. Who fits this description? Who else, but the PHS Cheerleaders! Both the wrestling and basketball cheerleaders have given a tremendous effort this year to get our pep club worked up for every game and match and have been successful. With new cheers and new actions they have gained not only the attention of the kids but of the adults. We owe much of our power and antici pat ion pf winning our games and matches to the girls in orange, black and white. Thanks girls! Girls’ Basketball—A Good Effort! STANDING: Asst. Coach Miss E.
