The 1975 football Wild- cats opened their season with an impressive win over an old rival, the Scobey Spar- tans. The Cats raced to a 32-0 halftime lead and with all suited players seeing ex- tensive action chalked up win number 1, 32-14. The first conference game proved to be a disappointing loss to the eventual conference champions from Sidney, 26-14. Trailing 19-0 at half the Cats dominated the second half and ultimately proved to be the only con- ference team that moved the ball against the strong Sidney defence. In the next three weeks injuries deci- mate what originally was a strong Cat eleven and the Wildcats lost to Glendive 46-28, Wolf Point 19-14, and Glasgow 50-6. Down, but not out, the courage and dedication of the locals fi- nally paid off in a confer- ence win over Poplar 22-16. This was the Homecoming game for Plentywood and proved to be one of the better games of the year. The wildcats returned home and finished the season as they started it - winners - with a 28-6 romp over Baker. Football was proven to be a very difficult sport for the Wildcats in Class A ranks as numbers are just not available to compete against schools three and a half times our enrollment. Yet the boys who have stayed with the program have certainly competed well. Championship records have alluded the Wildcate foot- ballers in Class A competition but championship characteristics and attitudes have been manifest by the boys who have represented their school and com- munity with pride and dedication.
