Chil- dren were frequently absent from school during the haying season, because the village was Second school structure in Pleasantville built largely an agrarian based community. in 1876 at a cost of 55,000. Morgan organized the band in 1913, shortly after h became principal. He is commemorated by a bronze plaque that hang in the main corridor at the front of the school. Local tradition has it that in one game against Armonk that year, Pleasant- ville's team in a psychological show of feet, took off their shoes, exposing their not-so-clean socks-a strong team . But what Armonk did to them was a sin and a shame. Nannahagan Park as it is formally named, more commonly referred to as The Reservoir by the current high school generation. The pond was a man-made en- deavor toward beautification and practicality, when people of a slower-paced age had time to think of such things. lt utilized an east branch of the Saw Mill River, called Nannahagan Brook. Below the reservoir was housed the original Ole Swimmin' Hole for your grandparents, until a rash of epidemics caused the health board to admit they were all wet on their initial idea.
