Mrs. Cale and Mrs. Press showed us the rights and wrongs, and were always very patient and kind. Miss Barbour worked dili- gently making out our cafeteria schedules and also proved to be a great necessity to us. S we continued through our routines and practices to reach toward stardom, we presented our prom to honor the seniors of the Big Top. The art committee headed by Ianet McAnney came up with the delightful theme of Walt Disney's Characters. The decoration committee proceeded with this idea in mind and really made the gym look like a story book come to life. Dancing to the music of Ken lanney made the evening seem like sheer enchantment. As the night rushed on, the time oi the coronation quickly arrived. Ioe Davis and Elna Widell were crowned as king and queen, and made a charming couple sitting on their royal thrones, surrounded by their court. NDER the capable direction ot Miss Riehm, the Senior Class presented the Christ- mas play entitled The Other Shepherd. Taking the parts were Don Pierpont, Mary lane Crowson, Barry Phillips, Bob Hand, Ronald Mathis, Ann Clark, Kathy Snyder, Pegge Young, Bud Leeds, Charles Coyle, and Barbara Zippler. The play depicted a new and won- defrul aspect of the Christmas story. Mr. Censullo and the choir entertained by giving many musical selections, one of which is a popular favorite, The Nutcracker Suite , which put everyone in the right mood for Christmas. There were three solos on the program: a solo by Robert Valluri, a soprano solo by Geraldine Elliif and a piano solo by Peggy Kennedy. AT LAST .... MAGAZINE DRIVE WINNERS AND TROPHY WASHINGTON! CHRISTMAS CAROLS an THE OTHER SHEPHERD OUR P.H.S. SWEETHEARTS THE MISS SWEETHEARTS OF 1951 6 1952 HE Sweetheart Dance was given traditionally at the Valentine Season, with the decorations carrying out this theme. Sweet music was played by Bob Chester's orchestra, accompanied by his vocalist Gerri Elliff. Drifting to the music in the atmosphere of red and white put everyone in a dreamy mood. Attractive senior, Sally A n g e r m a n was crowned Miss Sweetheart, 1952, with Ianet Worthington and Ianet Parks runners up. HE senior class presented the play called Pop Reads the Christmas Carol. This was a short comedy under the guidance of our advisors, Mr. Parks and Miss Spin- elli. The lead parts were portrayed by Lewis Stephens, Ann Williams, and Ella Mae Williams. E finally made it!!! Washington, our aim in all four years of high school! Early one morning at seven o'clock we began to take our seats on the busses, bound for Wash- ington, where we enjoyed four glorious days which we will always remember. After arriving home we began to wish we could just have the same trip all over again. UR wonderful class night is over and at last we come to the moment when we, The Class of 1952, are graduating. What Class is practicing to be almighty Sen- iors? Why the Junior Class, of course. Under the direction of Iim Reilly, President: Phil Leigh, Vice President: Eileen Glover, Secretary: and Norma Weist, Treasurer, and their advisors, Miss Haldeman and Mr. Errickson, they pre- sented the wonderful Iunior Prom, in honor of us, the class of '52. Fred Poley and Marie Cahill, the shy ones, are standing by listening to the jokes of Harry Hick- ' H ey and Mary Mae Gibson. The center of attraction to all the class is, naturally, good-looking Don Clark and Pat Parsells. Studious Alice Somers and Maurice Milton can't hear themselves think because of the musical competition coming from Iirnrny Barber, Ianet Ingersoll, and Mary Mae Gibson. Personality kids, Pat Parsells and George Evinski are busy recruiting Betty Pierce and Don Clark, who carry off the best dressed honors, to one of their schemes. With such a great class, they can't fail to make P.H.S. proud of them as Seniors. Best of luck to you, the Seniors of '53. .t 'Vx 'u v f ? .'. fnx by Qzl dvp' Pf r-,Hn 10- , O rw' ff' -rs W 3 AWSJQX fh , 5 H 33? FN? FS in in Dm O O FS . AH F5 A+ f f1 '1'i9?fff'f Zlauwa Row 1: I. DeMille, Vice President: Mary Ann Reilly, Secretary: and lean Dixon, Treas- urer, the Sophomore class is really going places. To start the year off right they presented that terrific dance, The Football Finale. As examples of the fine talent of the Sopho- more class we find Nancy Hepler and Bob Vallauri, the most musical. Outstanding for ' their shyness are Sandra Scull and Ed Farrell. Pat Van Meter and Anthony Di Simone are known for their sharp clothes, while Carolyn Lloyd and Ed DeMille are the best looking members of the class. The kids you will always find with their noses in a book are Carolyn Nace and Wayne Som- ers, the most studious. Claire Reed and Kenny Adams are known by all for their pleasing personalities: and if it's laughs you're looking for, Mary Stringer and George Garrick will keep you in stitches. 'afgete Row l: Donald Perri. Alberta Mulhol- land, Nancy Mills, Pat Christine Row 2: Mr. Byers, Miss Hheim. Last we come to those bewildered specimens roaming through the halls of the third floor, the Freshmen. The Freshmen are really quite smart and we are sure they will succeed in the years to come. Richard Kelleher and Sue Lloyd get the vote for the best personality, while Michael Tor- taglio and Katherine Davis were chosen the l shyest. lay Pierpont is the best dressed boy and Eileen Hackett, who receives the title of best looking, also is the smartest-dressed girl. Many in this class have made names for themselves as musicians, but the two who received the most votes are Richard Kelleher and Gwen Oldfield. Iohn Eiseman and Barbara Gandy were voted the most studious. The two who head the class as entertainers are Bob Kelly and Peggy Hickey. Under the able guidance of Miss lane Riehm and Mr. Iesse Byers, its two advisors, the Freshman class has had much success so far. Its very capable leaders are: President, Don Perri: Vice-president. Starting out with a rush, they spanked Holy Spirit twenty five to thirteen, walloped Wildwood twenty to nothing, and vanquished Vineland thirteen to nothing. After fighting Glassboro to a scoreless deadlock, they again displayed their winning ways by taking the measure of Woodrow Wilson twenty to nothing. Having dropped two close encounters to Millville and Atlantic City, they crowned a victorious season by wrecking the Raiders from Ocean City thirteen to six - a feat which hasn't been accomplished in six years. The varsity, consisting of Don Clark, Ed DeMaggio, Harry Martin, Willie Iones ,Bob Allister, Andy McFarland, Ron Wescoat and Garth Wittkamp, piled up the best record ever seen in the Annals of P. H. Nothing could be more appropiate than to end our stay at Pleasantville High School by leaving our Fighting Grehhounds acclaimed the greatest ever, When this book went to press, the scores were: Pleasantville 73, Tucker- ton 355 Pleasantville 62, Salem 402 Pleasantville 53, Demarest 89: Pleasantville 61, Wildwood 563 Pleasantville 56, Ocean City 475 Pleasantville 51, Hammonton 50: Pleasantville 63, Holy Spirit 51: Pleasantville 74, Millville 39: Pleasantville 42, Salem 40: Pleasantville 54, Facutty 425 Pleasantville 50, Millville 275 Pleas- antville 675 Glassboro 44. Zaaefczff Pleasantville continued its winning ways in baseball by turning in an- other championship team. Coaches Helfrich and Chester worked hard with a team which worked just as hard to keep up the tradition of A-l baseball at P.H.S. The Greyhounds finished up with a record of fourteen wins and four losses, winning the 2nd leg on the Press Union Baseball Trophy. This trophy is given permanently to the first team in this vicinity to win it three times. Pleas- antville already has retired one trophy and is gunning for its second one this year. We shall never forget our baseball team here at Pleasantville High. The P.H.S. Iunior Varsity team for nineteen fifty-one did not fare so well as did the varsity. This may be attributed to the fact that they are a very green team. Much is expected of them when they fill the vacancies left in the varsity by our graduating seniors. The Pleasantville team seemed to enjoy triangle meets since in this type of track meet it particularly excelled. After many days of road work. jumping, and over-all training, P.H.S went out and beat Pitman and Millville. Next came the only Greyhound loss of the l951 season: Atlantic City trampled on our toes. Pleasantville now went on to win the rest of its meets. Our team defeated Holy Spirit fdual meet? Holy Spirit and Tech ftriple or triangle meetl. and Tech tdual meetl. Another interesting sport, new to P.H.S. which the girls took up this year, hockey. Since it was new, it was not included in the intramural program this . but certainly will be added to the program in the future. This program is under the supervision of Mrs. Adelaide Titus and Miss Bev- Beyer, directors of the girls' Physical Education Department, and is spon- by the Girls' Athletic Association. which boasts of a membership of over the girls in school.
