A momentous occaston took place rn Pleasantvllle l-hgh School on March l5 l946 an OCCGSIOD that Ntll go down tn the records of ttme as one of the most rmoortant steps toward the development of a frner school system Thls date marks the adoptton of the constttutron for student government 1n P H S and the begtnntng of a government for and by the students themselves Our proud constrtutron dtd not develop overntght tt IS the product of long hours of study and effort by students and members of the faculty The ftrst seed of student government was sown durmg the meet1ngs of the Student Faculty Commlttee whtch conslsted of members of the faculty Mrs Scull Mr Frtsbee and Mr Rosebery and the class offtcers From thrs begmnmg there developed the ClV1l Servtce Commlssron whose 1ob tt was to make up the test to det rmtne the delegates for the Constttu colors Next came the popular electton of these future delegates and thus was formed the Constttutronal Conventton Now the seed was really start1ng to grow Day after day the delegates labored over the all tmportant constrtu t1on and ftnally produced the ftntshed doctr1ne Thts just gives you a rough tdea of the scenes that took place pnor to the adoptton of our constttutron There was an a1r of solemn dtgntty as our pr1nc1ple Mr l-lelmbold accepted and stgned thts document and a look of pr1de on the faces of the student body Thts ts ours now to uphold and re spect and We must prove that we the students are ready for such trust to D9 g1ven us Yes tts here at last student government tn Pleasanw lle l-hgh Scnool' PAG LLEL tional Convention, The students taking this test came through with flying
