This is one of the great advantages which we as young people are able to receive. In our future years we will always remember the inspiring truths which were re- vealed to us in chapel. Our P.P.A. team possessed the maximum of these three elements. Consider the opposition--three-fourths of our games were played against teams with players two to five years older than our boys. S. Denison and Co., publishers. The seniors were assisted by the juniors, and freshman. The play was directed by Rev. Senne. The play portrays the character of Elizabeth iBessl Russell, the stepchild of Mrs. Russell who comes to live in Chicago after living her entire life on a ranch in Wyoming. The western girl is almost twenty-one but does not under- stand the culture of high society in Chicago. After several months, Mrs. Russell, who dislikes Bess, gives one of her luxurious parties for Elizabeth. She does this to create a false impression in the minds of her friends All of the society people of the nearby Chicago are invited. At the party all the friends do a great deal of gossiping about the girl. It seems Bess is always saying the wrong things to the friends and making enemies of them. Lucia, Bess's half sister finds her talking to George Garrison who is engaged to Lucia. She becomes very angr and says they are making love. After the party Mrs. Russell and Bess have a heated arguement and later hardly speak to each other. Three days later, on Bess's birthday, Mr. Russell is caught in a stock market crash and must have twenty-five thousand dollars in order to retain his position in business. This happens the day before Bess is to return to Wyoming. Bess gets a birthday present of thirty-five thousand dollars from the boys on the ranch. This money came from the in- vestment she had made in a copper mine. She immediately sends this down to the stock exchange to help her father. At first he will not accept it but finally does take it as a loan. This makes him decide that there will be no more mis- understandings in the home. Meanwhile George has fallen in love with Bess and Lucia has made her peace with Bess. Mrs. Russell then comes and admits that she has been very wrong and asks Bess to forgive her and stay in Chicago. Bess says she cannot stay as she must educate George for the new position as foreman of her ranch. Our first stop was Don McNeil1's Breakfast Clhb at the Civic Opera Theatre where Hrs. John R. Dirksen, Jr. was interviewed on a nation-wide hook-up. During a station break an amusing thing happened to Eunice Mennenga. Sam Collins, a comedian on the program, grabbed her purse and magically took embarrassing articles out of her purse such as a girdle and a banana which actually came from his pack- et. Next we went to the Tribune Tower where we got an excel- lent view of the city. From here we went to the Board of Trade. We saw the Stock Exchange from the v1sitor's gallery and had a thrill- ing experience riding on the fast-moving elevators. Our fourth point of interest was Marshall Field and Co. Much of the alloted hour was spent riding escalators and browsing through the different departments. We went to the Chicago Christian Industrial League which is located on Skid Row. It was explained to us how men come off the street and are fed and converted by this m1ssion's work. At the Midway Airport we observed the large airplanes land and take off. Our vantage point was the roof of the administration building. The Brookfield Zoo was the last stop on our Chlcago itin- erary. Here we spent an interesting hour walking through the numerous buildings which house different animals from the four corners of the earth. To satisfy our hunger tantrums we stopped for our even- ing meal at a bus stop in Elgin.
