In ad- dition to last year's group, we have elven new members. From Dyberry Township came Charles Keast and James Rynear- son. lhribel Arnold, Henry Curtis, and Alfred Clemo were con- tributions of Clinton School system. A product of Blooming- burg school in New York State is Robert Henry, while Robert Hiller formerly resided in Damascus. During the annual election the following students were se- lected as officers: President, Frank Bsileyg Vice President, Beatrice Gillg Secretary, Vivian Wildenstein: and Treasurer, Dorothy Domanich. lr. 0'Neill, our class advisor, later sp- pointed Carol Zettle and Betty O'Neill, sd news reporters. Included in our social events were two plays, 'Tom Sawyer Wins Out' and Wiildcat Willie', and a Valentine Dance. Betty 0'Nsill and Louis Dickinson are the Freshman repre- sentatives for the student council. The cast of characters in the spring operetta,'Wa1ts Time,' included six of our students. It is with high resolve that this group of varied activi- ties and interests look' forward to the future. Betty O'Nsill SOPHOMORE CLASS Now across the record of the past come the figures of twen- ty-one Sophomores who will help to make future h story for the school. In all probability, no officers were ever as competent as those chosen for 1947-19483 namely, President, Rose Korbagvice President,Doris Wood: Secretary, Dorothy Zettle, Treasurer, John Leonard, and Reporter, Patricia O'Neil1. Scholastic and social events made the year memorable. A trip to Nay Aug Park, s St. Patrick's Day Dance, and a box social were the main high lights of the year. The Sophomores no longer need to worry about their past, for they have crept out of their shells and have learned to stand upright to face future problems in th8iP Junior Year. Rose Korba ff W' 1 IS. P--I v 1 - t , 4 -LQ1 JUNIOR CLASS The first day of school found the .Tumor home room bursting at the corners with the happy voices of the eighteen members who were relating their delightful sumer experiences to any- one who would listen. After a few days, the chatter was subdued by the rattle of papers and books as they realized that a new year was begin- Hinge With a quick glance backward, they pictured themselves as tiny, green oat sprouts which had grown to full height, and could now feel the meat of knowledge developing. To keep their roots firmly embedded in solid foundation, they elected Robert Bailey, President, Janet Terrel, Vice Presidents Helen Bendyk, Secretaryg Pearl Hruby, Treasurerg and Roberta Burdick, News Reporter. For growth, the Juniors found storms of problemsplntermingled with sunshine, in the form of an Armistice Day dance, the pre- prom, followed by the annual Junior Prom, as well as the trip to West Point, and Robert Ba:lley'e and Homer E'ooking's atten- dance at the Farm Show in Harrisburg. We are proud to have students like Homer Brooking and Edwin Brown in t e class of '49. Homer, who wrote an essay on elec- tricity, received an. award of 525. So, for all of you, this poem I write Fond memories to hold dear, And as life's gate slides open, We'll remember through the years The days we've spent together, The halpy times we've had, And many, many years from now These thoughts will make us sad. Rural life suits this boy fine, And on the farm he hopes to stay-- Arnold likes to milk the cows, Feed the chickens, and make the hay. This boy is an all around good sport Who in basketball excels-- Dewey Bonham is our Romeo, For he catches all the belles. Eugene B anning has a grin That spreads from esr to ear. We find it most contagious When any girls appear. Later in the year Jeanette Rude and Robert Schorr discontinued, leaving twelve members as the class total. We regretted the fact that Teresa Farrell and Edith Lillie failed to return. They, however, enrolled as students in other schools to continue in the field of learning. In the second week of school we chose as class leaders: President, Dewey Bonhamg Vice President, Raymond Miluesuskyz Secretary, Marion Medved: and Treasurer, Jacqueline Zettle. During the year we conducted several dances, selected our class ring, class flower, and class colors. The Junior Prom, which was the important event of the season, was staged with elaborate festivity under the direction of Miss Mary C. Foote, our class advisor. When the colorful foliage of our career began to disappear, we made preparation for the winter of our school life as seniors. Gertrude McGraw SENIOR CLASS HISTORY As we embarked on our final year of high school, proudly bearing the title of seniors, our class consisted of twelve members. Our membership was increased to sixteen as four new pupils from Herrick Center were welcomed to our school. They :ere Gharles Foster, Leo Gosciewski, Joseph Svecs, and David ovac c. Within a few days after enrollment we held our first class meeting to elect the class officers for the year. Raymond Mil uszusky was chosen presidentg Gene B anning, vice president, Jacqueline Zettle, recording secretary: Marion Medved, corres- ponding secretaryg and Betty Jones, treasurer. Miss Allen was our faithful class adviser throughout the year. ln January, one of our classmates, Charles Foster, left school to Join the Navy. There was never a dull moment throughout our senior year, as we were kept busy preparing for and participating in social events. Two bake sales and two dances were the main events, all of which proved very successful. We also exhibited our salesmanship activities on various occasions by selling magazines, stationery, and several var- ieties of greeting cards, all of which provided us with appre- ciable funds for other class activities Under the supervision of Miss Allen and the class officers, together with the cooperation of the class, we were able to publish a yearbook, 'The Mount' As spring began to advertise its coming, our attention was concentrated on preparation for graduation Before we realized it, the school year was drawing to a close With fond recol lections we thought of days that would always be pleasant mem cries.
