SCIENCE Q - Tee term Science includes such classes as Biology, 8th grace General Science, Aeronautics and Physics. Mr. Mowrey, e graduate from Manchester College, teaches Physics while Mr. Ross, a graduate from whitenburg teaches grade science and ur, BuF'encerger, a graduate from Man- chester teaches Biclcgy, ' Due to the present war conditions the iield of science has been asia a necessary element because in almost every branch of service someone with some Science work is needed. ' In our Biology class this year we started out with 45 students, probably one of the largest Freshmen classes in the nistory of the school. Q We had planned on using -our ways on class'worx and one say on lab work, but Que tc ' size of the class and the amount of lab supplier it was impossible to conduct lab work. In our class room work we spent time on the drawing of tnirty prominent flowers, drawlng ana coloring cz twenty-five cgrdsg drawing and labeling of thirty or forty insects as well as a number of tests. wht if tt ' - its sometlsa before school is out we ,inn to tan lst .,eld trips ana see ii we can identify some of those plants we have discussed in class. Along with learning all the Plant Phglam which inclu I8 every type of plant and flower around here we also leer ed the ten different Phylum and subclasses. Since Biology is e required course and since everything fftuns us is mace up or lives on Eiological factors it is a good course to study. H ggrcnautics , T448 is not primarily a war course. The age of flight and the airplane are coming. It is time the nation becomes air-minded. So the course is an example of applied Physics 8 study: of the facts ani'principles which go into the build- ing, testing, and flying oi the airplane. About half the
