1 1 , , 3 , 1 , , , , , SPOTLIGHT 1 1 x + 1 x 4 x x x x 1 ATHLETICS For the second year the gymnasium offered many dif- ferent kinds of sports to every one in school, There were many organized teams among the boys and girls. The most important was basketball and our team had another successful season. We were the defending County Champions, but lost this crown to Kirkland in the semi- finals. Softball was the next interscholastic sport. Hav- ing sacrificed our diamond for the gym, we did not have a very successful season. The students who could not participate in basket- ball and softball were not 'forgotten. A volley ball court was planned on the stage. .ith hr. Marsh as re- feree, the game was interesting to players and observer The favorite sport of most girls was playing kick ball. This was played on the gym floor and was very easy for them to play. This game was exciting to all when the girls were playing against the boysg with Mrs. 'ortney'maching the girls and kr. Vi ard the boys. The manyl arguments were always won ty Mr. Vizard and his boys, who nearly always won the games. The students who were not interested in the sports played in the gym, were provided with a room in which they played ning-pong. This sport attracted the two yell leaders, Dick Stinnett and Junior Anderson, who competed with Nr. Mowrey. We are satisfied with a fine gymnasium for the in- foor s orts. The next step, we hope, will be additional ground to provide space for all the out-door sports. Me hope this will soon be added and the school will have a large playground. iiikiiiiiiirifiiililiillllllllllklilklkllliilkiilll
