a. Terry Hamilton and Kris Rivers help a very happy Tammy Pratt get ready for Commencement. b. Valerie Wilson and Melody Aarstead give their speech on parents. c. Doug Graham and Eric Chastain re-read their speeches one last time. d. Marshell Coltrane joyfully shakes the hand of Principal Marv Brenneman before receiving his diploma. The graduating class of 1978 had two things unique about them. With 106 seniors graduating, this was the largest class to ever grad- uate in the history of Pleasant Hill High School. Also this was the first class to graduate under the new competency requirements. The class flowers were Roses and Carnations. The Ascensions sang 'Times of Your Lifew, the class song. The motto,,created by Scott Woodland, was The great thing in this world is not so much where we are as in what direction we are goingf' Boyal Blue, Light Blue, and White dominated as the class colors. Speeches were given by the top seniors in the class. The speakers and their speeches follow: Frank Hladky - the Past Eric Chastain - the Future Doug Graham - School and Community Melody Aarstad and Valerie Wilson thanked the parents. 18 SENIORS
