Although the girlis track team had a 2 - 5 win - loss record, they competed hard under all conditions throughout the season. With mostly underclassrnen on the team, they look forward to a much improved performance in the next couple of years. The team was led by a new comer to the program, senior transfer Christine Buehler, along with gallant sprinters Linda Morris and Becky Smith. Throughout the season, dependable Christine Buehler brough home a first place in almost every hurdle race she ran. In the end, this paid off with a second place finish at district in the 110 meter hurdles and a trip the the State Meet at Mount Hood Community College. Linda Morris and Becky Smith oftern strengthened the depth of the team by competing in three or four events in every meet. At the post - season picnic which was held at Japer Park, special awards were given to Linda Morris and Christine Buehler for Most Valuable Shana Wright and Vicki Fox for Most Improved, Cory Kilgore for Most Inspirational. Billie Track ' 8 SKY-E Champions The '77 - '78 track team had an excellent season this year. First, they won the District Dual Meets Compe- tition with an undefeated record of 6 wins and 0 losses. Next on the list, they won the District Meet at Marist by a wide margin. Now it was on to the big time, the State AA Meet. The people qualifying for the State meet put in a week of hard practice and then headed for the State level competition at Mt. Hood Commu- nity College at Gresham. They turned in an excellent performance placing 6th in the State. One of the other major events of the season was win- ning the Oakridge Invititional Meet an Oakridge. From this meet, the team brought home the magnificent first place trophy which is on display in the trophy case in the gym. This was the first such trophy the Billies trackmen have won while Coach Darling has been at Pleasant Hill. 140 TRACK
