THE YEAR OP THE CCDMETS WHAT ARE COMETS? Halley's Comet is a remnant of the stuff that condensed from a it returned, and he did. During the 1985-86 school year President Ronald Reagan and Soviet Leader Mikhail Gorbachev held the predicted that he would die when Geneva summit which hopefully will lead to improved U.S.fSoviet relations. Boomtown Rats singer Bob'C-eldof helped organize aid for Africa's famine victims, most notably the Live-Aid concerts in London and Philadelphia. On the homefront singer Willie Nelson helped the struggling farmer by organizing Farm-Aid concerts. The year definitely had many positive features including athletes overtaking records, and the University of Oklahoma football win over Penn State in the Orange Bowl which led to O.U. being named national champs. Though many tragedies occurred in the world this year there still was always something to smile about in THE YEAR OF THE COMETS - not the least of which was the return of Halley's Comet itself.
