As we open the book of our lives-we find the ,54 Seniors as eighth graders. We can remember as we read this chapter the wonderful times we had growing up together. ln 1950 we graduated from junior high. We were known as Fish', in high school. That first year we chose favorites-our first big thrill as grown ups. Ann Malone and Paul Brey were most popularg Carolyn Gilham and ,lack Thompson were most athletic. Our class officers were Dorothy Young, Presidentg Paul Brey, Vice H Presidentg Ann Malone, Secretaryg Freeman Feagin, Treasurerg Gerald and Troy Moore, Reporter. Our Valentine candidates were Bar- Paul and Glenn bara Spoerl and J ack Thompson. and David WX eat? Bonita Patsy, Cary, and Peggy Jackie, Mickey, Sharon Marilyn and Meddie Onn 43 Tawana Robert Mrs. Rowan and Pat 3.11 .J im and 44 Patsy SENIOR HISTORY As We turn another page in the book of our lives, we find the year 1951. We are Sophomores stepping a little higher to our goal. That year we chose Tawana Baird and Jim Beam as most popular, Patsy Boone and Jack Thompson as most athletic. Our class officers were Freeman Feagin, President, Patsy Boone, Secretary, Tawana Baird, Reporter, and Jerry Manley, Treasurer. Jim Beam and J amille Chambers represented our class in the Sadie Hawkins Race. This was Pleasant Grove's first year to have this sort of dance. Our Valentine candidates were Patsy Boone and Hal Redfearn. This is the next to the last chapter. Itis 1952 and we are Juniors. This year we chose Bonita Brunson and Hal Fedfearn as most popular, Jim Beam as most athletic, and Marilyn DeLong as most beautiful. Our class officers were Freeman Feagin, President, for the second time, Jackie Smith, Vice President, Patsy Barker, Secre- tary, and Jerry Davis, Reporter. Our Valentine candidate was Peggy Smith and her escort was George Cates. Camelia Loughmiller and George Schell represented our class in the Sadie Hawkins Race. We were also privileged in having a Junior play, Footloose This play, being a big success, enabled us to give the Seniors their first Junior-Senior Prom. Now we turn to the last chapter. lt's 1953, the year that means the most. This last year we're happy to be graduating but sorry to leave the wonderful times that we've had. This year we chose Bonita Brunson and Paul Brey, most popular, Patsy Barker and Clifton Groom, best all-round, Jim Beam, most athletic, Camelia Loughmiller and Freeman Feagin, most beautiful and most hand- some, Tawana Baird and Joe Johnson, best personality, and Mar- garet Sammon and Dick Heidt, most likely to succeed. Our D. A. R. candidate was Marilyn Rives. The Valentine Sweetheart was Bonita Brunson, her escort was Jack Thompson. Our Sadie Hawkins repre- sentatives were Camelia Loughmiller and Jim Beam. Our class of- ficers were Jackie Smith, President, George Cates, Vice President, Margaret Sammon, Secretary, Maxie Ashby, Treasurer, and Barry Dowd, Reporter. Our Student Council President was Jim Beam. Now comes the big moment. Soon Weill be on our own. We're graduating-May, 1954-the protection that Went with being a child is gone. We will have to make our own decisions, do our own thinking, and do our best. May God be with us and show us the way as we travel the long road to success and happiness. CHEERLEADERS Long hours and hard work are familiar to the 53 Cheerleaders. Most of them attended the SMU school of cheerleaders this summer. Every night during August they could be found by the gym practicing. During football season they held pep-rallies and led the rooting section at the games. These guys and gals were essential in keeping up school spirit and the student body wants them to know they really appreciated it. Bonita Brunson, head cheerleader, con- tributed much hard work and time to her job and really helped to make it a success. Although the record is unimpressive, the Bobcats played some fine games against strong competition. Also, they accomplished some feats a Pleasant Grove team has never been able to do before. Pleasant Grove has never before defeated the Arlington Colts. In fact, Arlington beat them out of Regionals in 1951. This year the Bobcats trounced the Colts 52-0. Irvingis Tigers also felt the stinging claw of the Bobcats for their first time as they went down before Pleasant Grove 27-26.
