WILLIAM! e was a Panic so severe in the United States any people turned to new frontiers, Since the settlements had reached the plains it was only natural that all eyes turned to Texas. Here was what everyone had longed forxfree lands, plenty of wood, water, and abundant grass. Some few came to escape the law, but to all it was a chance to start life over again. These people knew the value of the term Love Thy Neighbor. when a new Person moved in everyone came from miles to help build N the home and welcome the stranger to the new frontier. when the heme was finished everyone joined in the -mer1:vm'9-lfing- Life was simple. Hanes were crude affairs and the furniture depended entirely On how skillful a person was with tools. The food had very little variety. In spite of all the hardship-S these people had a good sense of values. Everyone respect his neighbor to be honest, loyal, and resourceful. Today there are no more frontiers to offer us free land and escape to start' life over anew. We must learn to live close together in a complex Society, where there is no new frontier. We must turn back to the fI'ontiersman's values and learn to resoerrc abd love our neighbors. In conclusion, we might ask if Our sense of Values has not been based on how much a thing costs whether or not it is worthwhile.
