We come to seek and leave fulfilled. Learning to live, it’s our generation. We learn of life and look forever. We hear of life and speak forever. We are life. Echoing halls stand waiting then fill with laughter. Bells ring, desks scrape, people shout, and meet with echoes of years past. Shiny halls are scuffed and lockers slammed as transient residents rush to class. Joy of coming, sadness of parting, then Echoing halls stand waiting. = sASI PLEASANT: GARDENS” Ghia yada 5. Yet, with the leaving and the going the school goes too. Nothing comes but it must go. As we enter life we find that with us there are memories. Four golden years have slipped silently into enternity. All that remains are mem- ories. We rushed into this “tour” year, impulsive and eager to meet the approaching tide of maturity. Our year quickly moving into the stream of past recollection, we pace swiftly and surely toward the future. Proudly for we are young; though still awed by adulthood’s responsibilities. Awakening to a consciousness of life, we advance to the brink of awareness. Idealistic and fearless we turn our faces to the dawn of a new day. Suddenly we realize that “sometime” is soon tomorrow; tomorrow becomes today; and that only yesterday is forever. Childhood becomes a melancholy memory; the present bewildering; the future a challenge. From the threshold of adulthood there are many things I could wish for you. I dare not: your dreams, your hopes, your ambitions are your sacred property. The choice is yours, Perhaps these years so swiftly sped have helped prepare you to seek your goals. It is now time to make a new departure and run dancing into life. Demand, speak, hope, dream. Question old values and seek new answers. Wring dry today and challenge tomorrow, Leave, to someday return to the time when we were all young, gay, hopeful, and together. That is enough. GARDEN CITY, NORTH CAROLINA It was the eve of the depression and businesses were going bank- rupt like apples dropping from a tree. That’s when J.E. Broyhill took over the reins of Broyhill Furniture Industries. Under his determined guidance, the company not only weathered the storm but began a period of phenomenal growth. In one generation, the company grew Broyhill’s main office building in Lenoir employs more than 300. from a small plant employing a handful of men to a furniture giant with more than 5,000 employees. Today, Broyhill builds with the same enthusiasm that character- ized pioneering efforts in the days of the depression. And that’s why it continues to grow at one of the fastest rates in the furniture in- dustry. OTIS L. BROYHILL PLANT MARION, N.C. Compliments of B.C.
